Wow, I love your sprites! They really capture the feel of Sonic 1/CD while still looking fresh. Your sprites of Shadow and Rouge makes it look like they could have been in the Classic Era Sonic games!
(Also, sorry for the confusing wording. But essentially, I'm saying that it makes it look like they could have been characters from the Classic Era... not counting the fact that they have more features than the Classic cast.)
Don't worry, that's not a confusing wording at all.
I've been lately instead toiling at the actual Sonic sprites. Nothing very interesting to show here- been recolouring Sonic 2 stuff to fit the Sonic CD look, and at some points correcting the spines here and there. Sonic 2 has more animations, but the sprites also feel much more amateurish. Wonder if due to rushed development or something. Coming next, doing the Sonic 3 poses (plus all the spinning stuff)
Have you done Tails and/or Amy?
Considering that he didn't post either of them that's pretty clearly a no.
Tails already has a CD sheet- it's the sheet from Sonic CD. I might later add to it, but not a priority.
As for Amy, just as E-122-Psi for the sprites he used in his Amy in Sonic 1 hack.
Oh. I had no idea he was in Sonic CD.
He was added to a later port of it.
Might take this chance to post this. Been mixing my rough Shadow sprite with a Sonic CD-style Shadow I once convinced Gardow to make. He's got a great palette, and great spriting (although obviously edited from Sonic, which is why I'm not directly just switching to using it), and great shading (a touch too great, even- had to remove some of the anti-aliasing and smooth transitions).
Any suggestions of where further to take this? I'm thinking I'd like the arms to be more like the Battle pose, but dunno.
Hmmm. I'm not a fan of the banding on the left leg, but the style calls for little imperfections like that so it's OK.
Maybe the hands could be a little less well-defined? In all the sprites you've posted up to this point, the hands are a little blobby and they have broken outlines. This sprite could use that to fit slightly more into the style.
Other than that, this is looking really fantastic! And these are minor nitpicks anyways.
I've been slowly sheeting some stuff, nothing too exciting to show since it's mostly recolouring and editing and correcting Chaotix sprites (which are great in posing but awful in polish- I thought I'd be removing polish to make them fit this style, instead I've sometimes been improving them). When I get tired of that though, I've gone and spritten another character- some are just basic recolours and edits (and that Gerald was for a laugh), some like Omega are full customs.
Here's some neat nonsense about how I got Omega's size, incidentally, together with the sizes of the Zeti which are lined there to indicate they'll be next. Sonic is meant to be one meter tall, and he's 39 pixels tall. That makes circa 2.5 cm per pixel.
Eggman is 1.85 meters tall, and 59 pixels tall. That makes circa 3cm per pixel.
In other words, the taller the character, the more compressed the pixels are in relation to real-world measurements, at least when having Sonic and Eggman in a scale.
This means that I wasn't happy calculating sizes just based on Sonic, as that meant that Gamma, for an example, would be 78 pixels tall and tower over Eggman when he's only supposed to be some 30 cm taller than Eggman.
So instead I got the help of a mathematician friend and we ended up devising an equation on Wolfram alpha where I just change the initial value (size in cm) and it gives me the size in pixels, corrected to account for the exponential compression between sonic and eggman :V

These look great, man.
Although, just as nitpicky things, you might want to move the highlight on Silver's head over to the right more. Also, the sprites of Captain Metal (I think that's what he's called) look kinda busy and unreadable. I'm not sure how to fix it but yeah -shrug-
Also the scaling stuff is really interesting. It sounds over complicated but it seems to work so keep at it I guess
Yeah, Captain Metal suffers from the same thing of a lot of Comic characters in that he was designed purely for a comic, and thus is overdetailed to fit in a small 59px-tall figure. I'll need to figure a new, "Classic Sonic" design for him first, like I did with Eggman Nega
EDIT: I apparently already did a design for him, but if anything it's even more detailed :V
Man. I sure do miss the pre-reboot characters.
Captain Metal is actually post-reboot, mind. Since they can no longer explicitly say he's supposed to be the Metal Sonic from before the reboot (since there's only one Metal Sonic), he's effectively his own identity entirely, and was created for the very first post-reboot story
Loving that Omega. I kinda want to see a full set, because we really need a Genesis style Omega. Others have tried but never finished them.
Though it's pretty silly how they made that rule about Metal Sonic. It really can't be the same one in every game or any media.
And There's also the fact Archie haven't said anything if they can still use the characters NOT created by Ken Penders.
I tell ya, Sega really needs to do something about that asshole.
