it may not be too extravagant, but vanilla is a good choice in any situation

get some high quality headphones and listen to the MP3 version of a song and then the flac
amazing quality
if i upgraded to flac my music collection would exceed my hard drive space

Which is why I use mp3s.
I'm not totally anal about sound quality so I don't care as long as it doesn't sound terrible, but if you want some amazing quality stuff flacs are by far the best way to go.
