... I really give up.
if you trace the image, you would see his shoulders connect behind his head or something, not his shoulders.
here's a crappy example i made in five seconds to demonstrate what I mean.

I seriously don't get what you mean...
Can you circle the sprite on the left to show me what you mean? (that's the newer one.)

his shoulders look dislocated. move his whole arm forward one pixel and it will be fine.

What happened here? I took a peek at the topic when it started and thought "hey here's something that's going to turn out promising" and I come back to find page after page of arguing!
First of all you guys need to know that if someone doesn't accept your advice don't backlash and argue with him. It is his sprite he is inclined to accept your critism or not.
If he doesn't, oh well. What can you do? Yell and insult him until he does? That won't work.
Iceman, just because someone gives advice in a way you don't understand doesn't mean they are trying to be an ass.
Anyway I still see great potential here and I hope things turn out well. Keep it up.
I think the best way to give advice is to show an example. So if you don't mind Iceman I may like to edit your sprite sometime. Okay?

in the spirit of giving advice, check the last post date and you'll see this happened a week ago.

Eh well honestly I wanted to see what came up from the Somari topic I saw a while ago. Looked it up, was dumbstruck from what had happened, and posted this...
Eh anyway I still do want to see it continued.

I am very disappointed on how this turned out...So, does anyone have any Idea's on a new walking animation for Mario?
BTW~ I don't know how to sprite hands very well...
Let's start with this first issue...
Sonic 1 and Super Mario World are somewhat identical in style.
Here's where I think the sprite went wrong:
First off, it looks like you are trying to carry SMW's sprite over to the Sonic 1's sprite style, like many did before, which isin't exactly "origional".
Second fault, someone mentioned that they are the same size, so you should be able to take Mario's leg's (well, where the knee joints are at) and stretch it a bit, it looks like he's still too short here.
Third, angle. His arm is a little high, so I suggest lowering it to about a pixel, to get the most accurate Sonic 1 Mario possible. Plus I might have noticed that Mario's lightsource is diffrent from Sonic's as when you zoom in, it looks like he's holding a candle where the lighting should match Sonic's here, judging from the cap.
If it doesn't help, I'd suggest trying to make something simpler in this style, like a Diglett.
