Marth was the unlockable in Brawl, and not Ike. But I can see where you're going.
um...he said that...
I disagree I think that we should put in at least 5 of the new characters in the game, maybe we should use TonBerry's CSS.
Ok, K.Rool I believe should get in as a starter.
Marth, no.
Waluigi and Bowser Jr., no.
Think Luigi and Toon Link. They kinda resemble the same guidelines.
And Ganondorf, no. He was close to an unlockable in his own game. Until like, the last 20 minutes of TP you didn't know he was in the game. He should be like that in Brawl.
I disagree with K Rool being a starter. Not for any particular reason, I just don't think there's reason for him to be a starter.
Yeah, you're right. but there isn't much reason for him not to be, either. Is there any way to make a poll without actually making a new topic?
I don't really like the idea of having K. Rool as a starter character and think Dixie & Kiddy would be a better alternative. Bowser is fine being a starter character because he has helped Mario quite a few times in his games and isn't the "big bad villain" he used to be. K. Rool isn't quite like that however. Same with Ganondorf.
-sigh-
You're right. K. Rool probably should be a starter, now that you pointed that out.
but should a hidden actually be in the first event?
Why have 3 DK characters as starters?
Hidden characters are generally the most valuable unlockables. Handing even one out for beating one of the first events would make them look cheap. Unless it's a character that was a starter in Brawl like Wario or such.
@ Tonberry2k: I believe the main reason anyone would want 3 DK starters is because we had 2 in Brawl, DK and Diddy. Because sequel = more? I, however, think 2 is fine but I can't speak for other members.
Of the Nintendo bads, Bowser is king, and really, as Neslug has said, he's helped Mario out every now and then, despite his incredible reluctance. And King Dedede is more often a hero than a villain in Kirby games anymore. Really, only the first game had him being TRULY villainous (as well as Spring Breeze and Revenge of the King, a re-imagining of the first game and an extension of that re-imagining). The rest of the games, he's either doing what he does for a greater good, he's possessed, or it's a case of mistaken identity. Don't get me wrong, he's Kirby's rival, but in the sense that Bowser and Wario are rivals to Mario, it's not really a "want to kill you" kind of mentality.
And my post above where I just said "GANONDORF" in response to a comment regarding how K. Rool should be a starter because DK "needs a villain right off the bat". My argument is that Ganondorf was secret. Mewtwo was secret. K. Rool doesn't NEED to be a starter. If anything, I say give em Kiddy and Dixie first.
I was using the term 'hidden' as 'unlockable', but you're right. But then again, most people would figure he's in this game anyways, even if they hadn't seen the roster. It's a given.

DON'T MAKE IT THE FIRST EVENT.
Problem solved.
Honestly, I think I did a pretty good starter list. we've got the people everyone expects right there in the open. Mac and Starfy are the most expected additions and are there to tease the player. I want the secret characters to have weight to them. They're unlocked and the player has one of three reactions; "I'm glad they kept her secret!," "I was wondering where they'd be," or "Holy shit, what's he doing in this?"
We also want to keep with tradition, keeping characters who are expected to be secret secret and give the newcomers who should be secret secret. The one I set up has enough to raise expectations while giving people a sense of familiarity.
No offense, but I think the Mario starter list looks crowded. I'm guessing Wario has to be default because he represents his own series and was default in Brawl, right? Well I don't know, he would better fit as an early unlockable considering his...uniqueness. Think how Captain Falcon went from default to unlockable in the Melee -> Brawl transition.
We should probably run polls for changes like these.
Really? I thought it was the bare minimum.
