maybe you could add a little white to the left of the eyes, and a dark-reddish color to the bottom of the mouth?

I usually picture a toad having the kind of smile instead of just a grin.

That looks good. Try a running punch, or maybe a kick now.

His whole body should move when he punches, not just his face and arm

That, and the cap should turn with the head.

Also, that cap shouldn't look like it's covering the back of the head like that. Take a look at a ref of Toad and fix it.

ok i'll try that next, meanwhile I've been fixing up the punch, and idle.

maybe the legs should shift too when he punches.

He has no legs :o
