Then why is the pokemon company asking for a producer for a game with background knowlage in PC and web games on a website were things like this are asked for, for generally big projects?
Koopaul, stop arguing the facts that is shown here will you? It's fucking obnoxious.
It's obvious that the Pokemon company is planning to do a massive PC based game. Whether it is an MMO or not is for time to tell.
"ohhhhh but nintendo systems ~whine~"
Maybe they are trying to branch out more? I mean how would you know what Nintendo's next step in their buissness is? You don't work for them so you wouldn't know. Just because the past has shown otherwise doesn't mean that things will never change ever.
Also Gamefreak is not made up of the same people that Nintendo is made up of. Sure Nintendo does owns Gamefreak but it's kinda like a fast food place. The major company owns it but the little individual building are owned by different people and different people work at each one.
I'm pretty sure that if Gamefreak had a really good reasonable idea for a pokemon game on the PC and told Nintendo about it and it was really good idea then I can see Nintendo giving the go ahead on the project.

God forbid they do something to branch out and expand their userbase! I mean, next thing you know they'll have Mario interacting with Sonic!
But yeah, you're right. Nintendo's been wanting to branch out for a while, what with Touch Generations, Wii Fit, and Mario and Sonic. This is just taking it one step further.

A web game could also be something similar to just a Flash game.
03-10-2010, 05:45 PM
And Nintendo would hire someone as low on the scale as a Flash producer?
e: Can there even be Flash producers?
e2: No, I'm just gonna flat out say that looking for a producer with "exceptional production skills" on a "Flash game" is hella stupid and they've already made Pokemon.com games without needing a producer.

Playfish (now owned by EA Games) only makes Flash games, and I have spent a few dollars on it in the past few months. Just now I bought 55 Playfish Cash for $8,99.
There's big bucks to earn from Flash games nowadays.

I think that if Nintendo ever had any Flash plans they would have buffed up the DSi to allow Flash in the browser.
and
I think it was on Slashdot that I read that Flash is slowly dying.

That's not the point. Even if it did benefit the franchise, Nintendo would not release it on the PC.
Just think about it. This is not a third party company that can go around independently putting their titles on whatever platform they want. This would be like Pokemon on the 360 or PS3.
I don't know what this means or what they are trying to do. But I am certain that it is not a major title.
"Nintendo's not a bunch of 120year old WWI veterans who shout war stories at you."
Yes indeed they are. Nintendo employees believed for the longest time that online gaming was not important, or that CD based games weren't needed (back in the N64 era). They are notoriously behind the times and stubborn as hell.
oh shit sorry koopaul, i must apologize, i almost forgot for a second there that you know absolutely everything about nintendo's past present and future.
TYPICAL POOPAUL POST.
Damn your posts piss me off beyond belief when you're being like this.
You're also too much of an idiot to realise you're being trolled.
Look, i doubt that they will be a pokemon mmo on pc any time soon but that doesnt mean it can't happen. Nintendo games on pc has happened before so what's to say it can't happen again?
Especially with an MMO that on top of the billions of dollars it will rake in via the WoW rivaling quantity of payed subscribers throwing their wallets at it every month, it could also be plastered from head to toe with nintendo's logo.
Hmmmmm.... a game that would make a shit ton of money for Nintendo, big up the company name and pokemon franchise, and continue to make vasts amounts of money for years to come.
Well that sounds like something that would benefit nintendo on a massive scale if i dont say so myself, and their only option to make a game of that caliber is it make it on pc, BUT WAIT, even that isn't a down side because ITS A NEUTRAL PLATFORM AND WOULDNT HELP THE SALES OF ANY OTHER CONSOLE.
im not saying it's gonna happen.
im not saying i wish death on koopaul.
im saying keep an open mind.
and im saying i wish some form of injury on koopaul.

Wow!
Relax, guy. We're just debating on whether or not Nintendo would make an MMO on the PC. No big deal.

And with that, I'd have to both agree and disagree with Koopaul here. First, I don't think they would create any game that's specifically for any PC, or an MMO in the way we see it. However, seeing as the probability of Flash dieing is as great as Linux being the dominant OS in this world, I think it's a possibility Nintendo is looking into something similar to those Facebook games, perhaps even creating one.
Think about it, in Facebook, micro-transactions are the key. If you can manage to create a game, let's say, a Pokémon game that's featured on one of the biggest social networks, it would increase the profits, seeing as people actually are willing to pay some bucks for the most exclusive things. Sure, the game would graphically be inferior to the latest physical Pokémon games, but the possibilities here are endless.
For example, instead of being confined to just one region, new regions could gradually be "unlocked" due to the fact that web applications can be updated. So, let's say in the first few months people roam about in the Kanto region. Then Nintendo updates the game. BAM! Johto region. Or events could be added, new Pokémon could be added instantly, either to test their balance (Nintendo could even decide to balance out certain new Pokémon, or even remove them, at which point people who own that certain Pokémon would get the possibility to trade them in for another Pokémon).
And about the micro-transactions. Who hates the fact that you run out of Master Balls fast? I don't, and neither do you guys, but there are some people who want to go the easy way, so for them, they could just buy special Poképoints, or even NinCoins or whatever (for any possible future games). They then can buy special items, like Master Balls, decoration items for your hidden base, special berries to create better PokéBlocks / poffins, even some useless things like costume items or even costumes. And there could even be a special "item" which allows you to transfer any Pokémon to your game (as long as the game supports that Pokémon).
Man, I should go into the Facebook business myself.

Yeah because asking for a web/pc producer on a site where you ask for thing for BIG PROJECTS means they are going into facebook.
I think it is going to be a bigger PC game then that. Only time will tell if it is an MMO or not but i definitely think that it is bigger then facebook.

I just remembered something... A Japanese site has (Or had, as of 2004) a 'game' up, and if I remember correctly, it was a place where you could just roam around, not battle anyone, watch preview ads, talk to the game creators (Or one of the staffs, I don't know, I can't read Japanese), and see the 'future' starters (See their Artwork, read about them [of course, it was in Japanese], and hear their cries)
It was in FR/LG Style, and if I remember correctly it was called something like 'Pokemon Garden'
...Could this just be our version of something like that?

Yeah, except the job description doesn't disclose whether it's a big game or not, only that it's a new, bold and innovative project.

But what they are saying is that it was posted on a site where you request things for BIG projects... I got that the first tijme.

Essentially, it was posted on the "official" videogame developer hiring site.
