What are you talking about? I played as him all the time. Had no clue who the hell he was but I always played as him. 
he was cool, but CHEAP. i only played with him in darkstalkers, but NEVER in mvc.
also it was obvious he was a mummy :V

The mystery "fiery" character they keep pointing out looks a lot like Akuma to me.
it's most lilkely dormammu (marvel char), hardly comes close to akuma.
