I agree here. This size of sprite is really not working.

Not to be mean but i think pikachu needs to be cute like it is in rumble i'm not saying yours isn't cute just not rumble cute
My newest attempt

Lopsided, square, and just plain awkward looking.

Use lighter outlines for lighter areas. Attach the ears with points. Feet come out from bottom of body.
