While a work in progress within itself, but I'm happy with the new look as the old one was overall very ugly. To get the best of the new design, I'm gonna need some advice improving on it.

Currently working on the girl on the far right and giving both characters (the two in green) some personality. Will these stances (stick figures next to the origional sprites) work or are they too identical?
Also character update since first update.

Next phase is age simulation. Clothing is one thing, trying to figure out how to get a mash of pixels to represent a person in her mid 20's is another story (old one, far right, far left, new). Keep in mind this is where I'll also start deviating from bases here too.

bluehair girl's arm is too long

Shrunk the arm two pixels and started to add details on the dress. I would love to know how to carry over the hair, thanks.

Progress update on the woman (some of which gonna need help on) and some major changes to the robot (the blue robot's an enemy type).

Gonna try something harder! Meet the Disgaea 4 incarnation of the Android human class.

hello, mr. cluttered robot
06-03-2012, 02:20 PM
Well, trying to cut corners with something as complex as that is not all that easy to do at that size. The cluttered factor could be just for the hair alone, and even I'm trying to resolve that issue, though I could use some help while I shade the body (which is I'm doing now, and gors.. that's a fembot).

Those green shoes are really, really Mega Man Zero. If you don't want your designs to look like fan characters then I suggest you change them. You should probably get away from the boots/arm guards look in general because everyone's going to roll their eyes at the mega man lookalikes
unless they are supposed to be fan characters
in which case
why
In any case, it also kind of rubs me as strange that the blue eyebot's head is so much smaller than everyone else's. It doesn't really fit in so much.

Well, I've been trying to get around that without having characters winding up like this. I'm open to alternatives, and yes starsock, I've been trying to find a clever way to come out of the pigeonhole I dug in when I first started (and no, they aren't fancharacters, sans the Disgaea 4 android copyrighted character).

Watch me screw up trying to make classic pirate shoes (the new hand isin't so flavorful either). I'm gonna need some help.

This was made from a little challenge I made myself for the duration of the summer:
Though, I'm not really happy with it for a couple of factors:
- I might've overdone the selout AGAIN. UGH (and the character himself may be a bit underdetailed compared to his sheild).
- Akward sword position.
- The armor may have been unfinished..
- Pallete might need moar contrast..
These issues may have been due to it being late and I need to get some rest. Therefore making it a probable WIP.
Feel free to let me know if more problems turn up.

Is the sword his hand? Because if not, that is incredibly awkward.
Other than that, the selout is WAY too much, there's almost no contrast and the position of his head is too far forward, making it look like he's about to fall over.
He's not "underdetailed", though - all your other sprites are overdetailed.
I recommend just working on this one sprite until it looks perfect, rather than trying to do about 7 at once.
