Anyway I got a WIP up for the PJ challenge:

I was wondering if I should give him a football uniform, maybe a ball?

That looks really nice C2B, I'm liking it so far. As for the kid, I think he might be too tall. Seeing as you said he was age 8-11 to me he looks to tall but maybe it's because I haven't seen any other character that will be in the comic, maybe he you have another character you could to a height comparison and we see how he compares in height with the other characters.

I'll twiddle with the proportions, thanks for mentioning it.

For some reason the leg pose on the other one looked a little better than on the new one. A football uniform would be really cool but I don't know where you could place the ball maybe on his hand or something? Don't mention it, I'm glad I could help.

also background looks similar to the sprite's color so it hurts readability too

It's looking nice but I still think that the leg pose o the first one was a tad better also it may be that you still haven't gotten there but if you did, I suggest you keep the black outline consistent, especially on the hands also, you possibly enlarge the image upwards so the horns/hair don't get cut off that much.
