your sprite lacks the contrast found in the original sprite
it's also banded and lacks a decent shoulder.
one leg looks wider than the other
Hmm... Thanks for pointing that out.
i fail to see how does that resemble sparkster's sprite style
or if that sparkster has any stylish feature at all, besides a subtle taste for pillowshading and saturation-
Do you mind telling me WHERE it's pillow shaded rather than tell me it's pillow shaded and over saturated.
It clearly does have some features from the game itself. But look closely at yours. it has a really big variaty of colors, while the originals only have a short variaty.
That pallet box up at the top? The one with a multitude of colors? No I'm not using that one for coloring this thing The sprite itself uses 16 colors.
Better remove that to avoid more confusion.
On the official sprites, there are a couple shades that they use for the outline depending on the proximity to the lightsource, with sometimes having no outline. Yours seems outlined the same shade just about everywhere except for the hair. Also, the red needs more hue shift.

No, what I meant was that the original characters don't have as much colors as yours does.
To tell the truth, your sprite looks ike a GBA Tails edt. I know it's not, but it looks like one.
