Your colors are 'washed out'; they need more contrast between the shades. You could use some AA in your lines, too.

Thanks, I grabbed a small section from the Mother 3 pallet. I'll take it up to eight colors on the re-edit for more contrast.

Thank you, but what do you mean by "AA in your lines"?

Anti-aliasing. It's when you place a mid-tone pixel between a lagged outline to make it smoother. I suggest you do look for it, it's a really useful technique c:
