Sorry, happens with my grammar sometimes. So I don't want to start playing Magic, but at the same time, I want to be like the 40 year olds I see at our local game shop and become obsessed with it, just because I could. Tongue
I'd really love to get into magic.

The huge investments and constant deck updating aside, I find the game to be really fun and I'd love to really get into it, but there aren't many people to play with.

My local comic shop has weekly tournaments though, so maybe I should check that out.
I'd love to, but then I see the few who do play it here in town, and they're all the kids in school who do nothing and are annoying. So I'm going to try and get my friends to start a legitimate group, because I've played it once with an old friend, and I loved it even though my ass was whooped.
not a fan of magic mainly because im not into the whole wizards and warriors thing. im too much of a jrpg retard to overlook that
I'm not either. I personally dislike wprgs and the whole "wizards and elves" type fantasy worlds that most western things use, but with magic I'm too absorbed into the strategy and fun to really notice.
I grew up on Lord Of The Rings, so I'm kinda a big dork on that sorta stuff.

Oh, is that M:tG game worth getting? Not sure if it's in the sale, just askin'.

It's not on sale because Wizards are money grubbing bastards.

If you don't play IRL then it's a pretty solid way to bring you from beginner to regular, since it has an ok mix of cards from different sets but

Everything is very limited. You can't build your own decks; just customise the set decks that they give you. Those extra decks and extra cards have to be unlocked by beating campaign; but that's not as much of a big deal.

You can go online and play other people too; but I've not tried that yet. If any of you do get it, I'd be happy to play with you.

Edit: Vipershark, the PC version's exactly the same, except it doesn't have all the microtransaction expansions released yet. If you bought anyt for the Xbox version, you'd have to buy them all over again (And the Xbox and PC versions don't link up online). However; the PC version can actively recieve patches and rules edits. Apparently Duels of the Planeswalers doesn't play entirely by the 2010 ruleset yet.

Chad, at least Magic *has* lore. And good mechanics. And a playerbase with an average age older than 13. It's still a Children's Card Game though; no doubt.
I've played a bit IRL, but eeeeehhh. I only know three or four people who play, and they're either TOTALLY AWESOME or TOTALLY SHITTY so I've not really got anyone at my level

I am... vaguely okay
I might give it a try once I get paid on Saturday~
Well then this'll probably get your PRO GAME on. Or at least make you aware of the kind of trickery that you might not see otherwise.
i used to play the pokemon TCG but it lacked the strategy or overwhelming feel of "oh shit... i just drew that card... its about to fucking throw down bitches!!" so then i switched to yu gi oh which is choc full of that :- )

ill stick to my little baby cardgames

actually FML i wanna try M:tG again now heh.. what is the theme of the newest set of cards?
The last completed set is Zendikar. Has explorers and adventure, seeking out rare relics 'n shit. And then someone stubled upon a tomb that revived these ancient eldrich gods and now everyone's shitting themselves about how to get rid of 'em.

Although Core Set M11 is going to be released really soon, and the next block is going back to Mirrodin, which is full of magitech robots and artifacts.

None of this is represented in Duels of the Planeswalkers, though; the cards in that are assorted from a few blocks, mostly M10 and a few sets back from that (Alara, Shadowmoor, 10th Edition)

I BOUGHT BIOSHOCK i officially have no fucking willpower in the face of sales. D=
chad, from the little i've played of M:tG, that OH SHIT SON I JUST DREW THAT. feeling is definitely there.

I like yu-gi-oh for the same reasons, hahahahaha
I have a precon red/blue deck that is very much "OH SHIT I JUST DREW THAT"

most of them are pretty shit on their own, but then you draw a shitton of buffs and dominus of fealty and DESTROY. EVERYTHING. Feels good man.

(Also, on topic: just got gifted borderlands, omj)
Wh-
What?

You lucky so and so.
Today is a happy day for my wallet.

All of the games for today I either already own, don't want, or cost more than I want to pay for them (Metro 2033, JC2)

I did buy the Freedom Force pack, but that was because I own the game but couldn't find my disc. :/
