What i infer from the story-

Crystal madness
Something scary tries to get them
Destined heroes kill the bad guy
Everything is icecream and gumdrops
throw a dice. then play that version.

it is that simple.

this is the correct answer

ff1-3 aren't worth playing, 10 is pretty bad, 11 is an mmo (which shouldn't be in the main series which is another argument for another time), 12 is fucking awful, From what I've heard 13 is linear and not like the rest of the games, and 14 is an mmo.

I'm not even going into X-2.

It's like everything before ff4 was an experiment to nail down a successful rpg experience, while everything after ff9 was them messing around with the core mechanics of the game and trying to add new things into the series, which didn't work. (11 and 14 are mmos so they don't count for that)

10 and 12 were fun games but the stories and characters were kinda GAY but good gameplay otherwise. 13 is amazing.

here is my favorites list if it helps influence any decisions (it wont)

11 -> 9 -> 13 -> and the rest are pretty much tied

That question is so rediculously loaded, you're an idiot for asking; and others would be idiots for trying to answer it.

^ This is why I said that, people.

You're never going to actually listen or attempt to agree with eachother.
Personally, the battle system in FFX was perfect.

Remake FFVI with the battle system of FFX and the visuals of FFXIII and you pretty much got my dream Final Fantasy.
