oh by the way, the other two or three images involved in 731's sprite are photos of human vivisections and the chimney used to burn the corpses of test subjects.
they're all on google, although what bothers me the most is that given that you're the son of one of the chief scientist in such secret project, why would you use such generic, stock images? wouldn't you use the photographies your father took?

Yes, but it has to be an original copy. There are two green versions: The original (this one), and the updated one (which we in the us know as blue version). There are also two red versions, but apparently an original red version that matches the original green version is much harder to find because the second version of red that matches blue was released worldwide, while green didn't leave japan until the GBA in the form of LeafGreen.
Well if you clicked the link you would notice that in the picture it is a gray caterage with a picture of Venasaur with it saying "Pocket Monsters" behind it and some japanese text.

...considering that there were two releases of the exact same game, I'd say no.
by original he means the first relased copy of the game, and not the versions that were later patched by nintendo(due this issue)
Exactly. I'm pretty sure the games look the same physically, so the only way to know is to actually play it since the original has different spritework and more bugs.
Well then i guess it would be a Trial and error processes. Either that or look at the copywrite date on the carterage. It does help out sometimes.

If I had a Green cartridge I could dump the rom, but I'd need to be 100% sure I'm spending my money on the real deal.
I have a Theory that might actually put this to rest. I'm not actually sure if you can even do this in Green version.
Suigin try doing the Mew Glitch.
If it works then this might be real, if not then it might not be real.
Mainly because if it is a hack then if they were to replace a pokemon they might as well replace a pokemon that you can't get through normal means, like Mew for example.
But still, the number of animations it has is much more then any pokemon in this game so it makes me lean more on the "it is real" side.
Plus we can have Suigin go to the museum and see if he can see the sprites from those.
