Yeah it's really weird that those two specifically would be excluded from new characters since they seem to be the ones with the biggest cult followings for each. Hopefully they just didn't have those characters that far along when they decided to work on the demo or something, because I'd be really disappointed if neither game got one (especially VI)

Hmmm a TETSUYA NOMURA directed game is ignoring games he DIDN'T have much influence? Ladies and gentlemen, I relay this to your pondering: "What is this? I don't even..."

Back on topic, March release? Real world maps/Not stupid chessboards? Sigh...I just bought the first game too. Oh well hopefully this means more people will play. Ad Hoc Parties around that time anyone?

I fucking hate Nomura. I really do. He gave XI love though, so I have to give him some props but he's leaving the 2 best games in the series out.
Nomura did do some degree of work on VI and expressed interest in having Locke Cole in the first Dissidia game, and as far as IX goes he did put Vivi in Kingdom Hearts II so I'd like to think he doesn't really have any issues with either game or anything like that.

Regardless though I think there's plenty to like about this sequel so even if VI and IX get screwed over I'm still looking forward to it.
So, VI and IX apparently didn't get new characters after all. The last new character is a playable version of Chaos, called "Desperado Chaos." I've seen some gameplay videos and he seems like kind of a gamebreaker.

Does anyone know if you'll be able to play the game online through infrastructure mode? I was pissed when I got the original Dissidia because none of my friends own PSPs and I don't have a PS3, basically nixing any chance for me to fight against a human player. I was actually kind of surprised when I found myself thinking that I might not get the sequel if it doesn't support infrastructure mode... All the new content is great, but I want to be able to actually play this with people.

Oh, and Prishe seems like she plays really awesomely. If I do end up buying the game she'll probably be one of my new mains.

He has some negative traits to balance things out. From the start he can't gain ex and he steadily loses bravery. As his level gets higher you get abilities to fix that though.
Well, it's out in America. Anyone get it? Can anyone confirm if it has Infrastructure Mode for online play?
I'll get it tomorrow, but I doubt I'll have any time to play since I'm too caught up with pokemon atm, and I need to finish Persona 3 and Tactics Ogre too.
No infrastructure, which in this case is a no-go for me as I don't have a PS3 for ad-hoc party. (Didn't buy it, only played prologus but found out about the features anyway)

And I get really bored of playing dissidia by myself after a while.

Fuuuuuuuuck.

That is completely disappointing.
Not saying this makes the game bad or anything, I wasn't much into Dissidia in the first place, but since it's a fighter-rpg type game I'd prefer to play against friends online than just local. SE has to start realizing other countries don't work locally with games as much as Japan does. So this game isn't really for me since I've only played a few FFs. If anyone liked the first game they should definitely get it since the gameplay seems more solid than the first.
I preorderd it.
Its not bad at all.
the new characters play pretty well, even Yuna wasnt THAT bad.
I think Vaan and Laguna both played pretty great. The new story mode is kinda more fun, it feels familiar yet new.
And with all the DLC coming in i bet locke and vivi will be assists, like aries. so i wouldnt count them out yet.
Still tho. I feel like its lacking in some areas. Like because i had the previous dissidia i didnt have to unlock any villians or really level up anyone, but have you the option to reset characters. It also has the previous story too i think.
But the game doesnt have any amazing changes. Its kinda like an add on, rather than a whole new game.
Still tho, I love it.

100% on all points. I feel like this world map is a testament to what we are suppose to see and feel in Type-0. I agree though it feels hollow but it definitely feels MORE like a Final Fantasy than before. Originally I thought assist were 2 on 2 play, which I think might have been the better choice, or it could have gone both ways where there is a CPU behind you and you both can summon your assist characters. A team aspect where you have to make the characters work together and rely on each other like most FF's could have made it more stand alone from Dissdia. A mini-game where you raise chocobos or race them or something would also have been cool.

Favorite new character thus far is Vaan.
