I REALLY like that new lizard. And I mean really really like it. The only thing I want to say is it would look better with fangs imo. And maybe have the leaves form a collar, almost like the chikorita line, so the final evo would have flower things.

and I don't want to sound cocky, but I personally like the first ram evo I made. Is there anything that should be fixed? (design wise)
Also, it may not look like it, but i tried to make the horns with the holes for smoke also, it just didn't turn out well.

I'm not sure how I feel about all the wool on yours. Even when starters have a lot of details they're usually all streamlined, so it doesn't fit the greatest. You could try removing a section, removing a little off the bottom, making it more uniform throughout...not sure what would be the best

The eyebrows set it apart too, and could start out as small simple shapes and grow in at later evos. That might not be necessary though, I mean, I like the face, just these darn starters have such a specific look.

Also I don't think the smoke can serve the same purpose with a bipedal stance, that smoke wool thing's not gonna work (if that wasn't evident already). We could just make the horns more like pipes and have that as the reasoning behind the smoke instead

I also tried thinking of names for them, but couldn't think of a name for the first evos, but what about "Frillower" for the final grass evo?

I guess I know what you mean about the wool, but it doesn't seem to stand out too much, does it? Also, I personally like how starters have that one thing that makes them stand out, and almost all starters do, which is usually their eyes (all 5th gen have different eyes).

Wouldn't it be better if it's wool was just wool, and it shot smoke out of it's horns as a defense mechanism, more like a squid with ink? Because every gen has 2 bipedal and 1 quad, and the Desman kinda has to be quad.

I was thinking having the desman be quad, while the fire and grass are bipedal, and the sheep/ram will be quadripedal by either 2nd or third evo (like pokabu but vise versa).

If anything, I could remove the collar of wool, and leave the diaper-like wool.

I think the wool should be black, or a dark grey, to represent smoke, while not being smoke.

It might just have to do with how much of the wool is drawn in, like in your first one it took up a larger area but when there's more space between the collar/diaper or they're not as big then I think it looks better. I'm not really sure what the best course of action is there but maybe it could just work after all haha

And, yeah I know we're going with the bipedal stance, and I meant that the wool should be wool heheh. But it doesn't actually make sense for him to shoot smoke out of his horns unless it's incorporated into his design, so I suggested making the horns like pipes kind of like what metalflygon was doing, and also making the wool look smokey like mutantyoshi suggested could work

well, it could be that he isn't incorporated with actually shooting smoke until second or third evo.
I do agree the wool should be greyish, however.

I'm really hyped to do the evolutions but I don't know what type you guys want ( Grass/Poison etc. ).

Oh my I really like this. It isn't the right style but that doesn't matter because we're trying to crack down on the designs first.

Look at this early design of Chikorita and Girafarig.


As you can see they certainly don't look the way they do right off the bat, but they will get there.

Don't worry about the evolutions for now. We need some more Desman designs.

I know its not official artwork but it does have acurate traits of the pokemon,
This may help to get to see how the pokemon could coincide, or general traits like for example how most who stay on all fours normaly have stubs for legs. I kinda liked how the 1st gen starters had an eye pattern(really obvious if you look at the original artwork) it would be cool to see something like this used, (doesnt have to be eyes)
Also if you look at the on all fours pokemon Pokabu, Turtwig, and Mudkip the heads are normaly orbs attactched to the body not part of it, this could be considered when desinging the desman, of course this doesnt have to be the case like if you would look at Chicorita, i guess im trying to speak my thoughts before i forget them.

That's good always look to previous Pokemon for understanding the design.

The heads are pretty big. Almost the same size as their bodies. I should consider that.

I know this looks really crapy, since I don't have a scanner, and I didn't fell like taking some time to draw it by hand on the computer, I used Microsoft paint shap tool...so, yeah, but this is my idea.



I do like Koopaul's desman nose being a fire hose idea, so i added that in.

I really love Koopaul's design, that's why I can't think of a way to improve it..

It's nose act's as a hose.

I just noticed, each generation has one four-legged starter, Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Mudkip, Turtwig, and Pokabu.
So making the Ram bipedal makes sense.
