Frog looks like that 4chan face.

in my opinion, I think the ram should be on all fours, or atleast flatten the hooves at the bottom. But they are good. and now that I look at it, maybe make more of a small snout on the frilled lizard, looks like you took a frog head, and placed it on a lizards body, try t make it more like this http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/st...lizard.jpg

I based this off Koopaul's idea, and I actually really like this one, the colors are kinda beta, and could change, but I'm really proud of this :p

Somthing seems off about it... mabye it's just the 1-up pose.

could somebody mke a cleaned up version of my ideas too? (they seem so neglected due to quaity)

Also, since i have a lot (I mean a lot) of free time today, I wanna see what I can do with your frilled lizard idea (I like it a lot)

I was thinking, since in all generations the first evo starters had one quadripedal (bulbasaur, chikorita, mudkip, turtwig, pokabu) person that started out in that form, but didn't stay like that (mudkip + pokabu) and always had two bipedal starters start out (all the others), but could still change to be on all fours (Wotter).

So I was thinking that the grass and fire starters could start out on two feet, while the water is on all fours, and some could change?

just the (our) left leg makes it seem like it's air-humping, or 1-up pose as I like to call it.

I'm re-spriting metalflygon's version and I've noticed a few things I hope everyone keeps in mind

-The colors sport high contast and hueshifting
-The lightsource is topleft
-Small pokemon still get big sprites
-Dithering occasionally happens but it's always minimal and always with a purpose (aka don't do it if you're not sure)
-The heads are just about always tilting up or down or at some kind of angle, not just straight-ahead
-Do something with the poses and expression
-They all use a slightly-off black for the outlines so you should grab it off 'em

The Ram's evo line is looking good so far,
Ive kinda been lurking in this thread and hope to be able to contribute my two cents, but im not sure if ill be able to do some art for it or anything like that.

Right now, I wouldn't worry about the air-hump, but is the design okay? I'm personally really satisfied with it (not quality wise, I rushed a lot )

I'm not sure it looks enough like a pokemon, or at least enough like a starter. Maybe something about the face or the amount of detail...? I think I prefer the smoke-pipe-horn thing but the satyr direction could go well too when the later stages are developed. Or we could do both somehow, but I'm not sure how well the smoke would work with it being bipedal.

I think metalflygon's might work better as a pokemon atm but it gets pretty dog-like and then pretty dragon/lion-like

and almost every gen has a pokemon starter that is dragonlike (Charizard, Feraligatr, Sceptile, 4th Gen skipped,Smugleaf)

well, I meant for there to still be holes on the horns to shoot smoke out because I didn't really like the idea of the bare and then add smoke, I think it should jst stay wool. The face could change a bit, but I don't really see anything too much wrong with it. Remember that this is a beta design, and things could change, but I thought the general design was okay

And, the fire doesn't have to be dragon-like, I actually think the lizard would work better, because it could be pulled off to be dragon-like better than a ram.

Correct these are all concept arts. Nothing is set in stone.

I was basing it off of this picture which kinda has a wider head.

But you are right mine looks too frog-like.

Also my original concept sketch had more traditional hooves, but I changed them to more rounded ones because I thought it looks more innocent and cute.

This is exactly what I was thinking. There has always been two bipeds and one quadruped. Since there was only one Water quadruped (Mudkip) I wanted to make our Water starter one too.
