I love the DKC games, so I'll love Returns. Besides DKC is a series of secrets and incredible level designs.
Guess what Retro is known for? Working on Metroid with secrets and incredible level designs in the Metroid Prime games.
Right it makes sense. Also they are a Western developer, and no offense to the Japanese I just don't think they can capture that Western feeling of the original Country.

I never said I didn't like it. . .
I just said it wasn't going to be a very good game.
I liked Mario Sunshine and that was a bad game. Doesn't mean I have to hate it.

Doesn't mean you weren't implying it sucks
in fact, let me quote you on the first post you made.

Yeah, bullshit you weren't saying it was going to suck.
That aside, I can agree with you on the tikis, but that isn't a good reason not to like the game.
I mean sure, Kermlings are a huge staple in the DK series but that doesn't mean they have to be around on every game.
More or less I say DK is finally expanding it's roster just as Mario's shit load of characters is growing, what is wrong with that? The rest of your reasons are just full of crap.
Whatever, let's just drop it and talk about what's important... motherfucking Donkey Kong. Oh yeah...
I didn't like the DKC games. But I'm really interested in DKCR purely because it's made by Retro.

anti-thanking this post.
Gonna be honest, I didn't read the topic and I don't want to. All I wanna know is, how hard is this game? Will it make me rage?I'm looking for a game that can do that.

From what I played, not too hard. It's a little different than the original DKC games. There's more background stuff to interact with and stuff hidden in it, which can be good or bad. It might mean that the levels aren't as well-designed because they no longer have to hide DK coins in them. Then can just stick it in a venus flytrap in the background. But I'm not sure. I haven't played too much.
Personally, I'm happy to see the Kremlings getting a break for newer villains. Even though K. Rool always changes things up between his appearances, repeating the same villain over and over can get STALE. For me, Bowser would have gotten really stale if it wasn't for side Mario games like his Gameboy and RPG games where Bowser wasn't the main villain all the time. Whenever he comes back as the main focus, I can still tolerate it.
One example of a villain who got INCREDIBLY stale to the point of them not even trying anymore is Sigma from the Megaman X series. By X6, he LITERALLY just showed up in a cutscene in the second-to-last level after the villain of the game went "Oh by the way, I resurrected Sigma inexplicably, I hope you understand". To top that all off, instead of being epic and badass, Sigma looked drunk off his ass.
Speaking of which, are you drunk when you post in this thread, Metaru? Gett spelchekc

dkc returns could be pretty good but I'm not really looking forward to it or anything
What. DKC2 is kind of the gold standard for platformers.
DKC2 is the best out of the country trilogy
Not going to argue this one.

Maybe somehow, they'll pull a Sonic and make out like the tikis are under some mad kremling control or something like that.
I dunno.
As you were saying with the side games, whenever DK gets a side game...
...You get a game that isn't DK.
There hasn't really been a true-blue DK game in a looooooooong time.
It's just that, I don't think that DKCR will be a worthy sequel to the DKC trilogy.
Also, DKC2-
Best
Game
involving a primate
Ever.
I dunno, it might be. It's just, that i've set my expectations
really low for every game.
(Except for games that you know they couldn't possibly screw up)
Ton, how's the gameplay? And for what you said about the background interaction, how does that affect the gameplay?

i though DKC was a side game of, you know
or what about the GB games. those doesnt count either? or diddy kong racing?
You've got it all backwards. Those are all side games of Diddy Kong Racing.
