TSR should have a good loading screen or something.
Also, maybe we should have a video section where members can make videos from Youtube or something sprite related and submit them.

I don't see why most videos couldn't go under tutorial unless your implying just any sprite movies - which is a very bad idea.
TSR shouldn't even have a loading screen - not matter how "cool" it is.
As for the samples idea I didn't mean a zoomed out image or anything I just meant a random sample of it at the correct size.

I hate the idea of a loading screen. The idea is to make the site more easily accessible to people.

Would that not be pointless since the icon usually shows the sprite at the right size.

We need a proper downloads and tutorials section sorted out, really.

Rollover thumbnails?
Put the mouse over the link, and it has either the icon, or a single sprite from the sheet
Edit: Oh hi Goemar <_<
Tag system, maybe?

What about the ability to submit sheets on the site?
like for example a template that must be filled in
Author:
Tags:
etc
And then you browse through your files and attach the sheet.
Almost like SGK used to be.
i remember when i started ripping i had no experience with forums and i found it a hard way to submit.

Oh no no no! Don't change it to that company thing. Its so much easier this way. Trust me.
Every other sprite site does it that way and I hate it. The fact that we organize things by series is so important because sometimes people aren't looking for a particular sprite from a game, sometimes they're just looking for a good sprite of Mario (for example).
Chopping up all the Mario sprites into different areas is no good. As would with everything else.
Your forgetting, this site does not revolve around rips. There are fantastic customs too. And when it matches the style, I think it belongs in the same section.

Adding a search feature is certainly a godsend.
The option for a 'low-fi' version is nice for those with dial-up connections.
I think you should allow for categorizing every game in every way possible. This way, a game like Sonic CD could be searched through name, company, system, release date, genre, and any other specifics.
The tutorials section does need an overhaul. Having text dotted throughout with image would probably work better than the complete images tSR sports now.
The site does revolve around rips, because 80% (a guess) of the sprites here are just that. Don't get me wrong: customs are good, but they aren't the main focus.

Koopaul, if people wish to find mario sprites, the search feature will allow them to do that - the results on the search page can be displayed to show the result and which section it comes from.
That way, if someone wants, say, a sprite of mario, they search "Mario" - If the style interests them and they want to see what else is available from the same game, they can click the section link that it comes from.

Well if that's the case why do you wish to change things by system?
I still feel that having things by company and series makes this site so unique.

It also prevents anything not in a big company from being sorted very well
Face it, its not the bet way to sort it. Compromise professionalism to be 'unique'?

I like things being listed by company too. It is just easier to find that way then installing a search button.
Also Dazz if you need help with anything at all just ask me and I'll be willing to help.

Maybe keep the default listing by company (or allow people to choose how they want to see everything categorized). It'd be a monumental task filled with tons of research, but affixing each sheet with a a few simple searchable tags shouldn't be a problem.
From my previous example, Sonic CD's potential tags (taken from Wikipedia for sake of simplicity):
Title: Sonic the Hedgehog CD
Developer: Sega Corporation
Publisher: Sega
Designers:
Naoto Ohshima, Director
Kazuyuki Hoshino, Character Design
Platform: Sega CD, PC
Release Dates:
J: 09-23-93, 08-09-96
EU: 10-xx-93, 10-03-96
USA: 11-19-93, 09-26-96
Genre: Platformer
Ratings:
ESRB: K-A
