Fair enough.

There's also the whole "hi we're microsoft and we're going to make xna 4.0 not work in directx 9 any more, so too bad for you" thing. Because of that, I've switched from the hi-def profile to the reach profile, so it should actually work on more devices now (hopefully including ob2ko's pc).
Anyways, the current version now has enemies in there (though not all of the enemy behaviors are in yet, not to mention attacking in either direction). Also, for now, you can also speed up/slow down the scroll speed or even make the level go backwards with the B and N keys.

It works on my laptop now. My laptop must be shitty, to not be able to run XNA 4.0 games.

Just means you've got an old version of DirectX.

I can't get it to open. I have the .exe extracted, and once I try to open it, my laptop doesn't do anything. It doesn't freeze, it's as if the command was never pressed.

Try deleting SOLGame2012.pdb and see if that helps any.

Have you tried re-downloading it? He updated the .ZIP recently.
If not I'm not sure what to say.

Did you install the .NET stuff and XNA redistributable blubbery all that junk?
I noticed these things love not to give you an error when those are missing. Welll, check your installed programs, just to be sure?

I "repaired" .NET and XNA, if that makes sense, then restarted my laptop. I dragged the .exe onto my desktop and tried to open it, but nothing happened. When I tried to delete the file off of my desktop, I got this message:
It's not the end of the world--I'll play this game once it's finished, if I can find a way. I don't really want to derail the topic any further, but thanks anyway!

UGH THAT FRICKEN' FILE OPEN DIALOGUE. How I hate that...
I guess you can try to close any folders or whatever and delete it again after a while, otherwise you'll have to restart your computer to make it deletable.

HEY LOOK IT'S THE THIRD EDITION
AS IF WE NEEDED ONE MORE REDO
It's a browser game now; should work best in Chrome, though I've been testing it primarily in Firefox so far. It takes a little bit to fully load the music before it really starts working. Also, since it's HTML5, your browser will have to decently recent.
Controls:
run - arrow keys
duck - down arrow key
jump/advance menu - X
pause - Z
I still haven't addressed any of the problems gors brought up with the last version (like lack of control or something); I'm just trying to implement things first.
@baegal, lol looking back at that latest comment, if you dragged only the exe to the desktop, that might have been part of your problem there; it needs to be in the same folder as the other files/folders included in the zip.

I found a small bug, when you press Z when jumping while holding the Down key and when your next a wall while the screen scrolls. You go through the wall when you press Z again.
