We get the point, you don't like old games.
I seriously doubt series like Mario or Sonic are going to die anytime soon, sure there maybe new franchises but it won't change the fact there will always be a new game from a old dog.
Besides, Games like mario and sonic are influential to most new game dev's anyways, not like they won't borrow some of the mechanics from them to make a new game.
what, no you dont get my point at all.
let me put it this way: Epic Yarn could easily spawn a new character but they felt they had to plug kirby because otherwise the game might not sell as much as it would with an original character. thats what i really dislike on how things are handled nowdays in terms of franchises.

Agreed - I bet Kirby: Epic Yarn outsold Legend of Starfy by a large margin simply because it's Kirby. They're similar games and of the same quality, yet Kirby will always sell more.
Speaking of franchises from SEGA that should have taken off, into some new iterations but never did whatever happened to?:
Pulseman
Ristar
Astal
Bonaza Bro's
Jet Grind Radio
Ecco
Golden Axe
Vectorman
Dynamite Headdy
Shining Force
Kid Chameleon
Comix Zone
Shinobi
Pulseman is Gamefreak, wouldn't it (if rebooted) become a nintendo franchise?
there was a shinobi reboot (idk if it was sega) and they at least attempted a 3d vectorman a few years ago.

In bold, games that are not developed by SEGA, just published.
In italic, games that actually got continued recently (even if the sequel(s) suck ass)

I don't consider Nightshade or Shinobi recent at all.

Well look at it this way when Nintendo does release a new franchise you'll never know or care about it. Nintendo tests these things in one region and if it fails then nobody else gets it.
How did you Europeans like Disaster: Day of Crisis? I'm pretty sure the feeling was mutual with the USA's Excitbots: Trick Racing.
