Quote:So we’ve added a couple of things that Daisuke and I have gone over, as far as some secrets and some Easter eggs that are going to make some of the original fans really happy, and it’ll also add some longevity for the game for anybody who’s playing it, and sees these grand new areas that we’re adding, as well.

So yes, there will be some big new content added, too.
i was gonna bitch all up at this bitch because all the cave story ports are so shitty but then i clicked the link and now my pants are messed and i have stigmata
i'm with shawn on this, the character designs are pretty awful and the game really doesn't need another remake, much less a sequel
people will be so gay for it they'll just buy it for the enhaced graphics shit.
I didn't play Cave Story Wii cause everyone here said the game looks comparably shitty. This game looks like a complete overhaul, and even still people saying it looks shitty and is a shitty idea. Why can't people just be honest, and say they don't want people fucking with Cave Story and mail the dude to stop milking his game?
The concept art for the environments looks nice.

thats it, though.
It's kinda horrendously awful how bad the 3D shot looks when you have all this neat shit with lighting going on in the concept art. The rock textures are pretty abysmal like disjointed rock farts.
What was wrong with the 2D graphics, again?
Nothing, but I honestly am digging the graphics in this, they're very inviting.

Or 3D Touhou.

I'm just going to wait until I am able to judge it for myself - I honestly don't believe it will work, but I might be proven wrong. The issue I see is the detection of 3D movement isn't included in the 3DS, just 3D visuals... So really, you can't "move around" like I think a lot of people expect... I also don't understand how a 3DS is still a portable gaming device when you can no way play one while on the go unless you're sat on a bus, plane or train..

In terms of Cave Story - seriously, it's a remake, and it's not a 3D game. It can't be all that 3D when there's nothing 3D in the original, unless they make a completely different game with the same name and no real new ideas because Pixel is milking a dead cow which has already been cooked up for burgers.
Well, it's kinda like netbooks and laptops, too. They're portable computer devices, even though you won't be using them unless you're sitting.
But you have the option of turning the 3d effect off, so it's still pretty portable.
You know, now that I think about it, I'd rather have an HD Cave Story in the style of the La Maluna and Earthworm Jim remakes than a 3D one. You have to admit, an HD game with game art half as good as the concept art would be far superior to anything 3D.

They could just use the stereoscopic 3D for parallaxing. Beautiful, beautiful parallaxing.
I actually forgot about the 3D being turned off - so in that case, the actual 3D mechanics of the game are rather pointless... You can't introduce 3D as being required for the game in case the user has the option turned off, thus rendering this a simple remake alike that of the Wii version, and based on the above 3D model of a stage, makes the game less stylish and interesting...
