(Can't comment on DJ Hero, not having played it, although that's a subseries) I've preferred Rock Band since then, and I don't even think they have long left. I can't really think of anything new and interesting they could add to a new title, if they were to make one.
Well, instead of a new Rock Band, they could introduce Jazz Band, or Bigband. Imagine instead of using guitars, bases and keyboards, you're playing on trumpets, trombones and saxophone. And not just with four players, with at least eight players, but possibly even 32 players. New York, New York indeed!
Hey, here's an idea for a new music game...
Get a real instrument and stop buying these kind of games.
Or they make a game that actually helps you learn how to play an instrument perhaps?
and people still wonders why GH died.

More like getting a lesson that doesn't involve you staying in your basement.
I never really knew why people bought the games to begin with, if you actually want to get good your better off learning your favorite songs by getting a teacher or going online. Or just make your own riffs.
Plus you'll probably have a better understanding of the scales and chords if you do so. Maybe you'll know more about the instrument. but it's better then a playing a gimmick.
It's almost like it's a video game...

That's the thing with games
If you could really do what the game has you doing it stops becoming fun. For example, if they made a game where you pretend to develop games I would find it pretty boring. I'd be willing to bet real life farmers don't play farmville, and real life racers don't play realistic racing games. Why not do if for real at that point?
I don't think a majority of guitar hero's players would find learning to read sheet music, learning all the chords, and gaining callouses to be fun.
Quote:"Due to continued declines in the music genre," Activision said in a statement, "the company will disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011."
Oh? The rhythm/music video game genre is having declining interest due to an oversaturated marked full of quick cash-in low quality sequels out of one franchise?! Huh,
WONDER WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS

That's a pretty dumb sentiment.
HEY GUYS STOP PLAYING GRAN TURISMO BECOME A REAL RACING DRIVER
The concept for Guitar Hero is sound. Hell, Konami did it first with Guitar Freaks. Activision made a few too many pointless sequels; but that doesn't null the attraction of the core game mechanic. Sound to me you're just raggin' on games you don't like. How
dare other people enjoy games you don't. >>>>=c
hey gusy stop playing pokemon get a real electric rat and become a real monster rancher.
Electric rats are so expensive, though. :c
Hey guys stop going to forums and go meet real people!
Oh wait.

So if you don't want to save your cash on the real deal and make it worth your time to learn songs not on a disc or DLC, then it's okay to buy a bunch of sequels and other similar games that are practically the same.
Okay, makes total sense. After all, not like you and your friends can get real guitars or drums and actually make it worth your time playing something that isn't a cheap piece of plastic =/.
