Something that pestered me that a lot of games don't have (there are only really really really few videogames that allows you that) is the allowance of, after clearing the game or the level, be able to replay that level freely. It either doesn't let you or have some sort of restriction, be it small or large.
A few examples:
On Epic Mickey, once you're done with a certain area, you cannot use the projector screen to go back to it, which is really bullshit :I
On Sonic CD, you have Time Attack mode which lets you play any level you want, and even Special Stages, with no time limit on them, however, all levels are on Present and you cannot warp to the Future or Past.
On Sonic 3, you can replay each level after you clear the game, however you cannot chose to start in Act 2, just in Act 1. And this is annoying if you want to replay just the Act 2 of a level, considering how long Sonic 3 & Knuckles' levels are.
That's a moot point on S3&K, you can't choose Act 2 since by in large you haven't gone anywhere new in Act 2 your in the same Zone just further down. You see how you get to the starting point of Act 2 because you've just played Act 1. The only zone where it wouldn't be weird would probably be Sandopolis and that's being lenient, everything around how you go from Act 1-2 physically happens before your eyes.

Actually the layouts are completely separate. The game just loads the second act so seamlessly that its impossible to know that without seeing the layout yourself. Regardless, in a game like S3&K where you can enter a code to get to a full level select anyway I don't really mind not being able to go straight to a level from a save. Plus you can get characters into places they aren't supposed to be. Sonic vs Metal Sonic or Knuckles in Death Egg anyone? Hilariously enough, if you do Sonic vs Metal Sonic Eggman's tiles will load rather than Eggrobo's and you get to see Metal Sonic kill Eggman.

uhhh so what if Acts 1 and 2 are connected? It's not like you can go back to Act 1 once you're in Act 2 (not by natural means, anyway). Heck, you could hack Sonic 1 and 2 so that you can connect the acts with each other so that when you end an act, you are immediately in the next one with no map change. In fact, a
few hacks
have already
done that. So my point still stands: Act 2 is a different level, even if it's on the same map, so I should be able to warp directly to it instead of having to deal with Act 1 first every time I just wanna go to Act 2, specially considering how long Sonic 3's levels are :I
Anyway, going back to the first point: There are
still a lot of games that doesn't let you replay a level or choose a level individually to replay. It's not something that every game has, but it's something that surprisingly a lot of games still have it. Drop this like a bad habit!

Speaking of Sonic I kind of want to see more games starring cartoony animals again. I know there are a few here and there but I kind of miss the days when heroes were rabbits with guns and bears with birds.
Funny, the last time I said that Kat claimed those kind of games are dead and then proceeded to rip out my throat. Of course the posts I made prior were probably the reason for this.
While I'm not so sure about games starring various silly, anthropomorphic animals would appeal to me, I would like to see more games that don't take themselves too seriously, but still have something serious to say.
Not that such games are really all that rare, though.
how about "everyone stop making so fucking many fpses god damn"
I wish games didn't try to have really realistic looking people, because it ends up being kind of weird. At best it looks like living dolls and it's really strange that I can pretend everyone in Assassin's Creed is a Barbie very easily

talk about predictable
Fighting games require movement limited by direction

Hey spambot, what's happenin'?
Crafting system. All games should have one.
Bethesda RPG's desperately need a no-bullshit mode. I'm fucking tired of my childhood in Fallout 3, I'm fucking tired of that starter dungeon in Oblivion, and I'm fucking tired of escaping from Helgen in Skyrim.
New Vegas and Morrowind had the right idea, let you make your dude in the space of a few minutes, give you a direction to go in, don't enforce it.
Actually, fuck. New Vegas enforced that like a sonofabitch.
Games need to have it so when you say you don't need something explained, they don't explain it. I've played so many RPGs where someone will ask "So do you know how ______ works?", and I'll say yes, and they will respond with "Oh, so you already know that you can (long written out tutorial on subject I already know about) then?".
Seriously, I said I know how it works, so just leave it at that.
