I tried using 3dvia on this game before attempting to get a tposed character. but it seems the models using normal mapping, or some other form of reflective shader.. this causes the UV's to be lost when using 3dvia..

I'm not sure if 3dvia still captures the data or not? maybe the UV's are on a second UV channel.. and the data just gets over looked. as you know 3dvia isnt supported by anything.. only there own products.and even those have limited support for there own format. the only solution is using one of their tools, or using their website.. either wat the UVs will be gone using 3Dvia..

however this was 3years ago..

anyway I never did tryout turfster's tool, as it claimed to work on twin snakes.. aka the game your ripping.

bare in mind the files in MGS are encrypted.. however once the game loads a resource.. it gets decrypted.. and tool could also be devised to search the RAM and capture any MGSTS models.. of course the models would be extracted direct from the decrypted games files so will be 100% 1:1 aka original(Tposed)..

game doesnt look like it has all that much to offer though. and time might be better spent attacking MGS3. anyway good job on the current rips.

thanks, but i managed to rip the character models unposed and with uv's using 3dvia and then i imported them to 3d max using the 3dxml plugin, actually the models are pretty fine and i almost got them ready for release, about mgs3 i think if the 3ds uses some kind of similar stuff as the wii/cube is going to get emulated pretty shortly and the models look far better...
what i want to rip right now are peace walker textures, the models can be ripped with no problems, is just the textures i need help with.

and if people really want mgs3 stuff i think portable ops can get the job done if the lamb plugin can support it in the next version

I think PSP uses a general texture type called GMT or GMO. theres a program designed for FF7CC that will convert them.

I'm assuming this other person searched for the image headers, dumpped them from RAM and converted them?

thats actually quite a bit of work, considering a scene might contain hundreds of textures :\

hoepfully that draken guy will add texture dumping
yeah that's why i belive ripping the textures from the selection menus is going to ease the pain...
about drakon he gave up and began porting portal and minecraft to the psp... for some millenum dash hacks psp contest.. wich is fine that's why i wanted to search for alternative metods... i remeber a guy who ripped mgs pw audio from encrypted .dat files will check into that and let's see if the gmt/gmo viewer is compatible... thanks for the tip!
I'm referring to rich's tools.. i forget the name it it.. the guy who made noesis.. also made a tool for handling the GMO stuff, which is a common resource type for PSP

I've had some results merging the UV's from the 3dr rip, with the OGLE based rip.

I'll post up some results if I'm able to restore a mesh to 100%. but I'm having an issue with some objects not matching up.. like the eyelashes not capturing in the 3dr rip.. its the minority of the model.. so it can be fixed manually by remodeling the missing geometry.

(Snake Tposed, although MGSTS has models with there arms down, same with MGS2)

Hey that's pretty impressive. And clever to use two tools to get a complete rip.
how exactly did you merge the uv's ?
well i got all character models, i just need to clean stuff but i will release the pack on a few weeks, all models will be in .3ds and obj and i ised the 3dvia metod for unposed meshes and i include the posed 3dxripper versions because i want to! all with textures and i will fix/remove/flip some alphas so you can por them to your game/softwere of your choice!
sweeeet, will the Artic Genome Soldiers be in this pack as well? I've been looking for one for a while now.

well itss an ABSOLUTE CHARACTER MODEL PACK so expect every single character, for example meryl has 6 different models, snake has 5, etc, ets, all the troopes where ripped except this ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsKvP_-ds...age#t=808s but theyre the same as the nuke consealed stage just black instead of yellowish...
do you have a NA game save, to various cutscenes? I'm trying to get to meryl, so I can rip her tposed
heh thats fine by me, with the artic genome soldier i can make some hilarious videos. and i've been looking everywhere for a model of Meryl to go with my models of Old Snake, Grey Fox, and Solid.
I did find a model that looked like it was from MGS1 as far as graphics go but it resembled Johnny from MGS3.

ok with 3dvia i got all unposed models, but i got uv issues with this ones:
all from cutscenes
briefing naomi (short hair)
briefing slolid snake (naked)
Revolver ocelot (coated version) IT's A MIRACLE I managed to rip this guy i just goy lucky
arms teck baker

the rest are fine maybe is my video card can someone check this for me if uv's are not messed up, it my be my video card or is just the way the game (not the emulator) renders that particular scene
I use an nvidia 250 gt, maybe on a ati card someone may get the models i cant get

that looks pretty cool. alot better then my Old Snake model, It's a custom i made from a Solid Snake model i assume is from MGS2 or possibly Super Smash Brothers Brawl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBlmAF-ziy4 can you tell which one it's from? I've been wondering for a while now...
