It wasn't bad, it was mediocre and a disappointment to Sonic fans.
I enjoyed it, but a lot of the dialog and voice acting was laughably bad, "shoot 'em all" missions were annoying, the story wasn't great, the graphics seemed downright lazily done, and the use of Sonic Heroes' style movement made him difficult to control, among other things. Part of me wonders if they were trying to be satirical, because some of the presentation is just that bad.
Shadow the Hedgehog was a pretty good game, but some of the mechanics of the game were annoying. Things like the Camera angles, and the speed of Shadow, which was a lot like Sonic Heroes got on my nerves at times. But overall, I liked a lot of it-though I still prefer the old Sonic games more.
I'm just gonig to say that Shadow the Hedgehog was bad, but not entirely.

Most of the flaws I can easily say I agree with, and Shadow just became a emo sir about his past during the game.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Shadow The Hedgehog, but I was dissapointed in it.
I don't think they ever really solidified which plotline was the real one, which kind of confuses me.
Me thinks they wanted you to choose which path was "the real one" while there was that one ending that "tied it all together".
I have to agree some of the missions were a wee bit too hard like destroying the presidents ship & all of the 50 years ago Ark levels did piss me off big time with killing all the chaos. It would be better in the Sonic games that it shouldn't change the type of game like Sonic Riders etc. They should just do what they did with Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 & the first three games all the time.

Personally I think Sonic the Hedgehog games are enjoyable but the recent games the lil blue guy has realeased, I think he is more than past dead.
I liked the multiple missions to change the story, but it did kinda muck up the end story. They should have had all the missions result in the final boss or the final level so it isn't 10 different endings, its just 10 different routes to the end.
I think the game was ok, but its graphics sucked, the chaotix voices sucked, Shadow acted like sauske from Naruto the whole thing, and how the the endings were set up. I mean, come on. You go evil on one level and you face the opposite you should at the end.
because it was boring as fuck and playing it felt like a chore
It had good gameplay but the main reasons it was considered a ''bad game'' were problably becuase,
1. It had some language that weren't considered ''kid friendly''
2. The storyline wasn't constructed very well, and was a disappointment.
3. They could have just cut out the swearing, it wouldn't matter anyhow, the only difference would be is that many younger kids wouldn't buy it because of the swearing, and sega would just lose money.

I wouldn't care anyway but, it seriously was overrated. Sega's staff was probably on drugs at the time, and some people might have sued.
1. Wasn't fast enough
2. Awful physics from sonic heroes
3. guns and cars were useless (though that jumping robot or whatever it was was sorta cool)
4. shadow cursing to be "cool"
5. awful voice acting and cutscenes
6. awful game
Why was this bumped by over a month?
I have a feeling this is gonna get locked soon.

Why would you bump such an old thread; and not a good one, either?

Locked.
