Usually if I want to chill out I play games where rounds/levels are short and you can dip into them easily. I've just started replaying Modnation Racers again, and while some of the later tracks are evil, the earlier ones are pretty good to just mess around with for funsies. The customisation is really excellent, too- it's quick to get into and surprisingly versatile.
Only problem I'm having recently is not being able to find many people online to race against, but it's not like there's a huge difference between racing against the computer and racing online anyway ;v
Audiosurf's pretty good too, if you play some artists like Mr Scruff or Bonobo and use one of the mono characters, it's pretty chill without being barren.
Oh and if you can play LBP or Katamari without your face being paralysed with pure joy you probably don't actually have a soul. They're not necessarily chill, but they've both got a lot of charm and just make me feel really great about everything.
Screwing around on super scribblenauts is fun as long as you don't get annoyed by constantly having to glitch to get past the creation limit
Tales of Vesperia. I just have so many good memories with that game since it was my first 360 game, and I would spend hours on end just grinding or messing around, certainly on my all time favorites list
No More Heroes. I love going through that game just dominating the bosses when I'm in a bad mood. Something about chopping peoples heads off and watching the geyser of blood that results just relieves stress for some reason
Sorry if this is a bit of a necropost or whatever, but I'd add Elite Beat Agents, at least on the easier difficulties. Just picked it up and it's such a fun and happy little rhythm game. Just hold off on the Christmas level until you're prepared for an incredibly light-hearted game to suddenly throw you a curve-ball in the form of a pretty heavy story.
(maybe I should check out the other Ouendan games some time...?)

Gonna have to agree with these whole-heartedly. Too much fun to just run around and hit stuff in Vesperia. And yeah, NMH and its sequel are great stress-relievers, I'm with ya there

I played this with a friend last week and it was a blast.
also every minigame in pokemon stadium 2
This is crazy, I am so wierd. If i am mad and want to feel good, i have to play something extremely challenging and to conquer the challenge to feel any satisfaction, which makes me more angry when i don't. If i play an easy feel good game, i get mad at how easy it is and how i don't really feel like i am winning. Am i a masochist ?
Probably sounding like a broken record by this point, but Prototype is a delightfully vicious thing to play when I'm feeling down. Something about badassing out and killing everything and then eating a few pedestrians.
Past that, I feel like I discover something new every time I play Morrowind. Wood Elf custom assassin. Forever badass.
