Indeed. I wonder why he stopped so suddenly?
I am using the card pallet but a little more refined. I originally started redoing those cards because I thought they looked ugly now. But eventually I just stopped spriting altogether.

I decided to start spriting again after seeing Peach with a Tanooki suit, it reminded me of my old fangame idea where all the Mario characters are playable. So I picked up my old pallet and began to work on a new set of Mario sprites.
Yes, if I'm gonna be honest these new colors and sprites are way better than the old ones. These look very nice.
These are really cool Koopaul!
Are you going to be doing other characters in this style?
Just wondering..Shy

You know what, a Super Mario 3D Land set of cards would be pretty swell. After you finish up these sprites though. :p
Okay guys I'm stuck. I give you full permission to edit the princesses and Toad. Just don't touch the bros. I think I can handle them.

But show me how you would fix these guys up then I'll see what I can do.
Some thoughts for Peach:

The arm is definitely something you need to fix. It looks wobbly right now (and it shouldn't!), my suggestion to fix that up is to emphasis the elbow a bit more and straighten it out. The glove and skin tones blend really easily on my monitor, so I also added some contrast to make the glove more obvious. I poofed the dress, but that's how I see Peach's design, feel free to keep the original if you like that better. The face looks "wrong" but I can't quite say exactly why. I tried to make the eyelashes noticeable, and I moved the nose up a bit. The overall effect is that her head is tilted upwards a tiny bit. I also sharpened her chin a bit by making it more of a corner where it should be; due to the size yours looks soft. Finally I darkened the lips to make them more noticeable. You're doing a good job so far, I hope this helps!
Her dress poofiness varies from game to game. I went thinner so its easier from her to slip between blocks.

But I'm definitely taking everything else into account.

Hey guys BUMP!

Wario joins the cast. He's one of the slowest characters but he can ground pound through bricks!

Anyway tell me what you think. I tried fixing Daisy and Toad a bit.
BUMP two new characters added!

What do you think?
My only problem is how awkward the angle is. Their bodies are facing a diagonal while their heads are straight right. I think you said you wanted the heads right for a reason. In that case make the bodies more like Peach (or more right-facing!)

I really like DK's head Smile
I'm sort of trying to emulate the poses from New Super Mario Bros. Wii where the head are facing perfectly forward but the bodies are at an angle.

Koopaul, your style is pretty interesting but..
my biggest peeve is how you use the grey as an outline. You use WAY too much of it and it seems to handicap the look of your sprites as well as their potential.
Another thing that bothers me is how you use that third shade. Your style is meant to be smooth, and because of the way you are using it, it gives it a harsh look. It makes it looks rough. Use your colors as well as AAing wisely.

I did a quick edit to kinda show you what I mean. I didn't want to go too much into it or else it would've been my own by the end of it lol

You also seems to be having some proportion problems with their faces..and bodies..like on Mario's face for instance, it's more of a diagonal than it is to a complete profile that you are going for.
Alright I'll try to apply some of those, tips. I won't take that Mario edit because that would be cheating heheh but I will use it as an example.

So less gray, and use the third shade wisely. Got it.
Bumpage

I started working on this again. Tweaking a few things here and there trying to fix a few of the old problem and even starting a Diddy Kong.

Still needs work, I'll keep fixing things up.
