Just wanted to say these look amazing. Keep up the great work everyone! I'd love to help, but it looks like you've got enough awesome sprite artists working on this already!

A Gligar fan, eh? Ha ha, I'm here to please.
Onix
Man, this is probably one of my best works so far, up there with Seadra, Murkrow, and the two Scizors.
Hoppip is next.
Hoppip
Hm, so I tried making a mugshot for Jasmine (my favorite gym leader). It's 48x48 and eight colours (I think that's the palette size for trainer mugshots as well). I know it doesn't look like the same style as the ones from GB1/GB2, but barring that, I would like some advice on how to improve them.
Here's version one:
And version two:
The only differences between the two are the hand, which I'm not sure which looks better, because the proportions seem off, and the shading around her eye. V2 has no shading, and so I don't know if it would be best left unshaded, or shaded and having her look sort of emaciated. So again, and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!
I think I'll do Sunkern next.

Gligar and Mew have such a nice painted look to them, I love it.

Hey guys, I'd really appreciate some feedback on these issues...
1
Dark Forretress
As you can tell, the background is horrible. I used up my colours. So I'd like some advice as to how I could make the background look better with the colours I have. Alternatively, I was thinking I could maybe substitute the dark red with black so I could free up a palette slot, but...
2
Sentret
I recently downloaded a plugin for paint.NET that counts the number of colours in an image, and for the most part it's been a wonderful tool for helping me make sure I'm not exceeding my palette limit. But sometimes is seems to count wrong. For example, for Yo-Yo Boy's Aquapolis Cubone, it says there are twelve unique colours used, but I only count seven. I also check by setting the tolerance for the magic wand tool to 1% to highlight any rogue colours that look very similar to the rest and using the recolour tool set to 100% . So for that, I mark it off as some freak mistake (even though it ALWAYS counts twelve. It doesn't matter if I copy and paste the image right from the site or if I download it then open it. But now, for my Sentret, it's counting nine. I counted the colours myself, made a concrete palette and recoloured with 100% tolerance, and checked using the magic wand at 1%. But no matter what it keep counting nine, and it's giving me a headache. Any insight on this at all? Could I get some peer review to see if maybe it's just one colour that for some reason I keep missing? Thanks in advance.
Ok, NOW Mareep and Butterfree are really next.
Edit: Yeah, ok, this is ridiculous. I was curious so I counted the colours in a some of the older sprites using the plugin and it's giving me tens and nines when I'm positive the limit hasn't been exceeded. I'm going to look into this more.

I've found the problem!
There's nothing wrong with the plugin, there actually IS 9 colours in that Sentret pic
This dark green is a different colour to the other dark greens
Likewise with the Cubone, there were a few stray pixels of slightly different colours. I used the Paint Bucket tool, set the tolerance to 0% and filled in the colours white. That way I could see if some pixels hadn't been recoloured then changed them
This should be fixed now
If you want, I could go through all the cards that have been done and check to see if they're under the limit?

AHHH THANKS SO MUCH PERSEUS!!! Really, thank you! And you don't have to worry about going through all of them, I'll go through the one's I've made and post which ones could use some checking. Thank you again! To start, I know my Tyrogue from Neo Discovery is reading ten colours...
Mareep
Bugsy's Butterfree is next. I'm also going to redo Ampharos to make its style in line with the rest of the cards.
Edit:
Bugsy's Butterfree
Bugsy's Scizor goes over the palette limit too, with 9...
