Yeahhhhh a lot of points I wanted to say were already made, so I'll just regurgitate what I want to say:

I see nothing wrong with being a fan of anything; hell, support the franchise, yeah man, cool.

The problem lies in how far you want to support said franchise. Like, say, being an insufferable asshole, or making it a point that your every-day routine MUST involve your franchise in some way. Yeah, cool, I like TF2 too, and I like that TF2-related shirt you're wearing, but for the love of god please stop quoting the characters at every opportunity, it's not funny.

Really I just don't care, you want to like something, you want to consider yourself a fanboy, I can't do anything to change you since that's your choice, buddy. Just stop trying to convert me or try to discuss said fanboyism with me when I'm trying to get some work done.

I gotta say I'm sick of one fanbase: Zelda. Because it seems to be a fucking law or something that if a conversation about video games takes place, Zelda WILL be mentioned at some point and COMPLETELY consume the entire discussion from that point on. What bugs me is that as soon as anyone catches wind that I'm not a fan of the series, it turns into a one-sided war about why Zelda is so great and why I am a terrible person for not liking it.

its more or less the same case with people who say how terrible series x is from experience (youtube videos and/or others' opinions) without ever trying it on their own before judging it


my cousin was saying that rhythm heaven was terrible until i got her to play it and then she bought it herself because she got obsessed over it

Actually, this is pretty much true for most discussions about the Zelda series on tsr if you consider how many debates we've had about what's the better Zelda game.

(Majora's mask or Ocorina of time, for example)

The Touhou fanbase has some real dedication, and that's why I love it. They make what was originally simple characters created by ZUN into so much more. And I agree, Memories of Phantasm is incredible! I can't wait for the second episode.

I'm part of the Minecraft and Sonic fanbase. The sane above 12-year old side of them, that is.

NOTE: The 12-year old side of the Sonic fanbase is the side that says they're the 'true fans' and blindly ass kiss anything SEGA throws at them, raging at any person who gives any dose of criticism toward the new games, whilst constantly shouting "lol you only haet cuz of green eyez lol" as their best argument. Ahem, just had to get that out of my system, as they've been bugging me for the past few years...

Any fanbase who is overly obsessed about it and thinks they're better than everybody else. I'm not saying any names... *cough*bronies*cough*

Well this one isn't really a fanbase but I HATE people who only worship "realistic" or "great" graphics in video games. The kind of people that pay more attention to them than the actual gameplay. My friend told me today that she played Skyward Sword and thought it sucked because the art was bad and the graphics cheerful. Yep, I wanted to punch her(not really ahah)

In my day fanbases lived in basements and only came out at conventions!
