Never is and never will be.

Doesn't really make sense, either.

Maybe I lied a little, I'm not a beginner, I worked with some emulators and ripping tools (I mentioned a few in the post) and I know how the ripping world works. But I don't have a wide knowledge of the ripping vocabulary (words and terms that would help me find what I want in Google), the file extensions that the games may use (you have to know how and where the game is locking the graphic archives, isn't it?) and the most important ripping tools of the different consoles (if you know just the ones from the DS and GBA, how are you gonna start with the Play Station?); all of this doesn't make me a veteran yet.

But yeah, I know what you mean, you can't make a guide or tutorial without knowing about the subject. That's why I created this post, to gather information. Besides, I'm not going to offer a hacking tutorial, just a list of things that would help the starters integrate in this, nothing too complicated for a "beginner".

By the way, if I don't make the guide, who will make it? You perhabs? It would help a lot if somebody experienced in the subject made it. But I didn't find any guide or tutorial about the basics of ripping, like in spriting: link. Too bad, isn't?

There are over 3000 threads containing over 50000 posts made by hundreds of users on this forum alone,
and you're telling me that there are no guides in the entire world at all?

Pick a speciality and work from there.
You're being extremely broad.
Pick a narrower subject and start from there.
Make up multiple guides over time instead of "King-Kong Sized, Broad-to-the-max Ripping Guide for a Beginner's by a Moderate Beginner"

When I say narrower, I don't mean "terms" or "programs."
I mean a guide for a program, or a guide for a term.

Take time and build it. Don't dive into a giant subject.

No, I'm not telling that. I have searched in forums, threads and posts to gather information but I found it to be a little scattered. I'm not complaining about it though, it allowed me to find really interesting things about ripping and spriting.

I don't think the guide will be so big. Or at least, I hope not. It's not like I'm gonna make a list with all of the ripping tools with their own tutorials.

Okay. But I still want to make a ripping dictionary, similar to this one: link. As I have said, it will help me find more about ripping and make it easier to search.
It's harder to make a dictionary that gets terms from a variety of programs with each having their own unique terms.

Spriting is a little different with the whole "its it's own art style" thing.

It's hard, I know... I just wanted to make something useful to others and learn a little more about ripping. But I'll take my time, as you said. When I become more experienced in the subject, I'll make the guide. That's what I intended in the first place though.
