What? No. It still has everything to do with SOPA. Megaupload has existed in its current incarnation for years. It's not a coincidence that it disappears the day after the protests.

It's not a coincidence at all, your right. It could easily have been rapidshare taken down instead.
I'm just worried that similar sites are going to get taken down in the same fasion, whether it's to do SOPA or not.

Somewhat alarmist, but interesting nonetheless.
And, uh, relevant.
Mostly.

... That guy is an idiot.

He's a moron but I wish he was right. I'd appreciate a free trip to the usa. And it's not like I have any money they can take.
EDIT:
Oh god I just got to the part where he said our politicians are the usa's politicians bitches.
MAKE IT STOP.

Yes, that is a bad thing. It still doesn't mean that the people running it weren't actual criminals and just random people that lived in their basements.

Then it, yes, has everything to do with SOPA.

Not saying they weren't.

Living in your basement is not a crime. It's not an anything. What does this even have to do with anything? This is mere slander.

the best part about all this hullaboo about megaupload is when i literally can't host anything everywhere because all the good filehosts are too afraid to stay open
so much for that neat idea of cloud computing, oh well

I got an email from imageshack a few days ago saying that they are going down. Something about changing servers or something.
Has anybody else had that email and is it related at all?

If it was talking about changing servers, I wouldn't be too concerned. Probably letting you know that the site will be unaccessable for a few hours or more.
If you are nervous about it, you can make sure you have a local copy of your images anyways.

Just thought I'd ask. I mean the way things are going, you never know.
I've backed up all my images anyway

HandToeKnee, your error is that you are still using imageshack. I mean, seriously. They've been great in the past, but certainly changed for the worse. I've abandoned them quite a while ago.

Use imgur and min.us (for large images).

Why is imageshack bad? Sure these lazy bums don't care about their toolbar, but it's so convenient that I'm still using Firefox 3.
