Guess who decided to stop by?
SOME NINJA CAT.
Speaking of ninja cats, today is DrakoNekoshi's birthday, so I made this mock up for her:
If you know the original game, then I love you.
Finally, something not Sonic related.

That's a lot of banding, for example on Ibuki's chest or arm, or on Coy's chest, for example. It can be avoided, and look less busy.

Who's Coy? Or did you mean Guy? Because Guy's portrait is actually from the game, I just used it as reference for shading and color limit.

it's Guy
and it's his official sprite

guess he did a good job actually then
ironically.
ironically.

What do you mean with ironically? >:I
This here was a birthday gift to Genzoman, although I'm too uncreative for poses (and the Guilty Gear style confuses me).
And this pixel thing.

He just means that you did do a good job, because you did exactly what you meant to do, which was to match the style of the game, it is ironic because the style of the game itself is the problem. It is not an insult to you.
Also nice cat.
Also nice cat.

Thank you for making it more clear, since I'm very stupid myself.

Damn you're good. How did you get to this level of spriting? (years of expirience I guess?)
05-05-2012, 08:23 PM
Yes, I've been practicing and improving through years. I think I first started it back in 2003 or so, but back then, I was just a kid who could only make really simple edits and recolor stuff.

Rose's legs are very awkward, especially the right one. the bottom of Blaze's face does not seem as smooth as it could be, but I can see you tried to fix that with anti-aliasing.
With this said, I like your sprites plenty.

Any tips you want to give out, Genzu?

@AutumnSpire: Yes, I doubt I got her leg anatomy right. The reference I used was kinda odd to look at, though I shouldn't have depended too much on it. For Blaze's face, not really sure how smoother I could really make the bottom of her face. The anti aliasing is there because I wanted to make good use of the picture's palette, since I felt like it would go nicely in there because of the color.
@BlueBlur97: The least I could say is... well, starting by simply editing existing sprites or getting based on reference at first is not a bad idea, just be sure to accept actually helpful criticism and suggestions when doing so, irrelevant of your age. Also, practicing new things and styles is a good idea, I like practicing many different sprites styles for learning more.
Also, I need a bit of help in making this fireball sprite here. I'm not yet experienced in making fire related objects and such, so I need criticism or tips on this.
It's supposed to be one of those spinning fireballs from Bowser's Castle in Mario Kart: Double Dash, and this sprite is using the SRB2 palette limitation (which makes things a bit complicated, but I'm making this for a SRB2 mod, so I have to follow it's palette). And please, do not edit the sprite for me, I want to learn how to do it by myself.

just a tip,
letting others edit your work is actually one of the best ways to help others. An image works better than text, and while you 'lose' the opportunity to make the sprite, you'll be more prepared to tackle similar stuff in exchange.
not to say we edit sprites NOT TO BE USED, BUT SOLELY TO CONVEY OUR POINTS. We dont make them so the OP can use it instead. In fact we encourage people to try themselves while following our take on the subject
