Hey there... I wanted to show you this:

The latest update of Tinke (rev 132) allows ripping of most of the objects in London Life... of course... there's this problem of dissection... (meaning, head, face, body, hair and possibly even shoes are all separate) but most of the NPCs have their own file... like the one in the image. So, I hope that helps you somehow when you get on ripping again those little objects. xD
Wow thanks, that's awesome. I was having a problem with NPCs because they rarely walk in every direction, and some don't even stand in every direction. For example, the one in the picture only ever stands facing left (and maybe upwards), so for those sort of things, and countless others, this will be especially good. Clothes will also be easier now, since having to buy everything single piece of clothing would be a mission. Most other objects can be ripped with DeSmuME, it's just the NPCs and clothes.
I'll get to redownloading Tinke, it will be a great help.
By the way, to Jetters and whoever else, I was wondering: so far all the London Life BGs I've uploaded now have been made up of 2 or more layers. For example, in Granny R.'s Shack, one layer was the actual inside of the house (floors, walls, and so forth), and the other layer was stuff like the tree, little house, bucket, etc. That is, I could have ripped the house and other stuff separately.
So far, I've been thinking that it's fine to do what I'm doing, for 2 reasons: 1) Central Station, which reblueyellow ripped, had everything on one layer, despite being able to walk behind some things, and so I would keep it consistent by doing other BGs the same style, and 2) because sometimes the layers that are covered by others have some glitches and/or corrupt bits that look ugly.
However, I was just thinking, maybe some people would prefer that I rip insides of houses and other objects (flowerpots, chairs, etc.) separately? I mean, none of those objects ever move/disappear (and for those that do I will rip them separately). It's just that because you can walk behind these objects, some people might like to see what's behind them rather than them being obscured as usual.
I hope that wall of text is readable, I'm not very good at explaining spriting dilemmas. Personally I find my current method easy and consistent (especially with Central Station which can't be done any other way). If anybody would want to use the layers separately (in a game or whatever), they could cut out the top layer and then add it back in on a different layer, which would keep the overlapping functions and still look nice.
But as I said, if anyone thinks I should do it differently, please say so.
EDIT: I can't manage to find rev 132 of Tinke 0.8.3.0, only 130 (from the link in your tutorial).
Hey Pugg, I really appreciate your work. I had spent a good deal of time looking for some London Life sprites and was disappointed not to find any of the actual characters so I had started ripping the player character sprites myself.
I suppose there was no real point in mentioning what I just said other than the whole appreciation thing.
Also, Avegaille, I was wondering if you could offer the link to the Tinke rev132 as I can't find it either.
Ah, Tinke rev 132 can be found here:

Just some tips when using Tinke to rip the sprites... the palette and tile/layers (IDK what you call that second file with stacked layers icon) is separate so that means you need to unpack the first one and view as palette (or click View) and then unpack the next file on the list and click View.

And for further releases of Tinke, I really suggest learning how to compile it... though it requires Framework ver. 4 and other things that took me days to figure out until pleonex answered some of my questions when it comes to compiling it.
Also I think redblueyellow is ripping some sprites from London Life, you guys should also coordinate with him to see which ones you'll work on.
Sweet, thanks for that Avegaille, now I can get to ripping those sprites.
redblueyellow PM'd me and showed that he'd already started, so we decided to collaborate together. Just last night I had the idea that I could work backwards (i.e. starting from the last sprite) and he works forwards, and we can meet in the middle (not exactly the middle, of course). That way we won't need to "leave out" some sprites for the other to do.

Yeah, I figured that out the hard way when checking out some other sprites.

Thanks, nice to know people enjoy my work
Do it however you feel is best.
Yeah, I PMed RBY and he agrees, so we're doing that. I'm already on a (slow but steady) roll, Tinke is making it a piece of cake, pie, and any other baked good you can think of
However, it seems that you've missed out on my update of the Curious Village title screen sheet (see last post of previous page). I realise you've been away for a while, and since we've come up to a new page it's only natural that you haven't noticed it, but I just thought I should point it out.
Of course it could also just be taking time to update on the site
I never said I updated your sheet, now did I?
I saw it, I just haven't done it yet, and because I use 50 PPP, we're still only on the first page, really.
I also just uploaded a mass of Pokémon from Ploaj, and did a lot of name-changing and stuff, so yeah.
It's updated now.
Ah OK, thanks. Sorry if it sounded like I was rushing you or anything, just checking.
JETTERS EDIT: Nah, it's fine. Just telling you I didn't miss it.
Well guys, I'm gonna be away for about a week, so my progress on the NPCs will be temporarily halted. So far I've been on a fairly steady pace, so when I come back I'll have to do some catching up
Anyway, here's my progress on the sprites so far, for anybody who wants it. Full sheet is up on the site.
Oh jeez! London Life sprites FINALLY. I'm so glad to see these rip-able. I hope it is ripped in it's entirety in due time. I'd do it myself but sadly I haven't got much free time lately...
Hopefully it will be completely ripped, most of it is pretty easy. But there are those bits and pieces that are particularly difficult to get a hold of, be it because they only appear at certain times, or simply because the layer arrangement is messed up.
Anyway, cool to hear your appreciation. I've got some access to the web so I'm just popping in, but it'll still be a wee while before I get back to ripping.
Well, I'm back, but later than expected. I'll get back to ripping soon, might take a day or two though. I need to get back into the groove of, y'know, using the computer
In any case it was good to have a break, but it's nice to be back.
Glad to see you back! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us.
