A little edit, the far leg looks much shorter than the near one, even considering isometric view, so you should extend it. The vertical lines make his legs look stiff, you should emphasize the most noticeable details of the leg, which I would say are the calves, the ankles and the big toe of the foot. Do the same for the arms, the elbows are definitely something you need to define. What kind of pose are you aiming for anyway, something idle or something more dynamic?
The legs are also pretty close together, which looks unstable (despite his spread out arms) although that might just be a side effect of the mismatched leg lengths.
You also have those two pixels pushed inwards on the torso, which gives the figure a very feminine hourglass shape, if I hadn't read your posts I would have guessed it was a female. (It is a male, right? RIGHT?!
)
i changed the arm position, trying to give him a more natural pose, and added shading, to see whether the body parts look natural when you try giving them depth. other than that i think you have a good base character.
JoeButler, you can't exactly help if your anatomy knowledge is limited. As harsh as that sounds, it's like a blind man leading another blind man to a cliff.
Both you and OP, check x0_000's explanation, study it and read more about anatomy.

Thanks man, that looks alot better, and yeah it was supposed to be a male (the hips bothered me, but no one mentioned it till now) ... I very much was just going for 'generic' easy pose with that one ... legs straight, arms not doing anything as a sort of test before I tried anything more complex.
I wanted to eventually apply a number of poses to the base ... like street fighter pose of the previous sprite attempt.
At least I have somewhat of a basis of the female variant now
Unfortunately my computer just died, so wont be spriting for abit.
