I would get SNES9X(ZSNES is optional, but I don't really know very much about it)
Step 1 - Open up the game you want to rip from.
Step 2 - Disable the Background/sprites/e.t.c. by pressing the number keys
Step 3 - Take a screenshot or PrtScr of the sprite you want
Step 4 - Open up a paint program
Step 5 - Paste you screenshot into that program.
Hope that was what you were wanting! :)

Oh, sorry then.
I don't know how to rip from Genesis/Mega Drive.
Plenty of other users do though.

Quote:Step 3 - Take a screenshot or PrtScr of the sprite you wantThis is... tedious.

Download Snagit 8.0 , define your input (region, window, etc.) and your output (always catalogue, this one is just a predefined folder for you pics). Now set a hotkey like 2, 3 W, Z or whatever you want.
Congratulations, now you can take pictures with a single push on your hotkey.
Another method is Animget, it makes bmp screenshots for each frame on your emulator.
If you're ripping from SNES: Always use zsnes 1.5, you can easily make screenshots with F1 and "screenshot per frame". With 1-5 you can disable the layers.
There is also vSNES which works with quicksaves from zsnes. The scene viewer allows you to delete sprites which overlay other sprites (like a thrown barrel, fireball, smoke, whatever). It also beats ripple effects, screentone, mode 7 and so on. Like in zsnes, you can also see every single layer.

That's what I've been doing recently.
