The biggest problem I have with the hair isn't the curve of it, but the shape at the top. In your sprites, it appears to be growing out of her ribbons. Usually, it has a sort of bump at the top, and actually connects just below it. I recommend getting a close up reference from somewhere.
Also her fringe is off. At the moment it looks glued to her head.
Try hueshifting your palette too
maybe have your dark blue shades on the hair go into the purples, and add bright (white) specular lights to the hair
also add more contrast to the skin tones
The hair-bow literally defys gravity so It's not too weird if it kinda floats.
A purple hue-shift for the hair.
Combination
It's not the bow I had an issue with, but the pigtails next to it. Take a closer look at a large reference.
Also fix the fringe.
I don't entirely understand the pig tails problem could you maybe elaborate a bit more :?
Fixed the fringe though
Lower the mouth by 1 pixel.
If you can decipher this crappy drawing, make the shape of the hair more like the first one. At the moment, it looks like the second.
Oh I see now
I prefer to keep the mouth where it is though
Still not quite right, it needs to be more pointed at the top, just a little. It's getting there, though.
That closer?
(Didn't know I would have so much trouble with the hair :p)
Aren't her hair ribbons supposed to be square? They are getting there, great job btw
I believe her ribbons are either square or triangular. I can never remember which.
yep, google confirmed it. they are square.
Moving on and Changing Styles
I probably need to remove the tranparency
