He didn't just keep the source code away from the team, he held the alpha for ransom for a YEAR, then secretly put DRM (anti-hacking and copyright protection) in the exe of a Sonic FANGAME; you know, the one from the community BUILT ON HACKING SONIC GAMES. It already pissed of the whole internet his lunatic actions, but the fact that the DRM set off everyone's virus protection only fueled the flames. Eventually, the team disbanded from their own internal drama.
Who was this lunatic, LOst.
EDIT: Remember that Sonic 2 HD trailer from a long ass time ago when the art direction changed? What you're essentially playing right now is that, it was fucking finished but LOst pretty much held it and waved it in people's faces for about a year and cram DRM into it.
LOst... one of the most brilliant members of Sonic Retro... What a shame.
I wonder if Sonic Retro could try to find a way around the DRM?
Hello everyone. I was just surfing on the net and found some nice sonic news that I thought I should share with you guys. There are rumors about a new sonic game due for this fall/winter from sources close to sega. This new sonic game is said to resemble sonic unleashed/colors/generations by using the 2D/3D style gameplay, however, the stages will have multiple paths that will lead to different goals and stages. It is also said that playable characters will be unlockable and playable on any stage, being able to access areas the other couldn't (like Tails being able to fly up a wall to access another route while Sonic has to find another). More details will come from Sega mid-February.

So, what are your ideas? Do you have any expectations?
I don't like the on-rails gameplay 3:
I want Sonic Adventure back 3:
And of course the 3DS is deemed 'unworthy' to break the Rush tradition.
Imagine Sonic Colors or even Adventure gameplay in stereoscopic 3D. Sounds breathtaking (even if it's for a couple of minutes until the magic wears off). But no, still 2D.
Rant aside, seeing as it's rumored to be released in fall/winter, I might have a Wii U by then. I hope it does have 10+ playable characters in the end. The idea of character-specific routes is exactly what a Sonic game should have. Just look at S3&K.
I'm hoping the 10 are: Sonic (derp), Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream (the Advance 5), Shadow, Blaze, Metal Sonic, Chaos and Omega. Looking at the article the first 6 are very likely. However, I fear Silver will be there too. Only time will tell.
I seriously doubt Chaos would ever be a playable character outside of Adventure 2: Battle and... well, Battle. It'll probably be Silver or Rouge.
If this game even exists, anyway. Who remembers Sonic Dimensions?

I know, but I can still hope, right?
And it's likely to exist. Somewhere it was mentioned the writers of Happy Tree Friends did another story for Sonic.
Zelda-er I mean Link
I'd say Chaos has a pretty good chance of showing up in a spin-off somewhere down the road. He'd be pretty cool in a Sonic Riders game.
I really don't see how Chaos would be playable on stage layouts resembling the 2D/3D style. All I'm hoping for really is a decent story line. Unleashed had a nice story, but resembled a cartoon more than a game. Generations story was ok. They just need to understand what made the Sonic Adventure/2 so great.
SA2's story was the best.
I personally like the goofy stories a lot more than the super-serious stories of SA2/ShtH/06 because they're goofy characters anyway, and the serious stories just got really ridiculous
I just think goofiness fits the characters more. (And Colors was the first time in a LONG time Robotnik was the final boss in the main series so I want more of that please.)
Basically what Zero Kirby said.
Something I really liked was how in Sonic: Night of the Werehog they had a lot of goofy things. Personally I think that's what Sonic should be. Goofy characters doing goofy things but yet still looking cool during the fight scenes.
Well I think Sonic games need moar SERIOUS BUSSINESS
Kinda makes the game more interesting for me.

I'm pretty sure Sega tried doing that twice.
They sucked dicks.

Honesty, I think it was the glitches and gameplay that made those games horrific. '06 was a bit TOO serious, and Shadow was a serious character to begin with.
