Although this sheet is usable straight up, I had a look and others don't seem to be so convenient. Due to this particular enemy not having any animations (it simply attacks by moving into you), the organization of these frames doesn't really matter, they're just all the different directions it can face. However other sheets that do have animations seem severely unorganised. Also, sometimes there are multiple images containing just single frames of, as far as I can see, a random animation (i.e. it's not significant or anything).
For example one enemy has
a sheet with heaps of its animations (walking and attacking and such), but the frames of a single animation are strewed around in such a way that it'd be difficult to get them all together, then also find out what order they go in. Some look very similar.
This same enemy then has a huge bunch of separate images, which make up a single animation (in this case a "Heavy Melee Hit"). These frames aren't in the sheet, but they are named in order, making it easier to animate them.
The same goes for the main character. So far I've only looked at his unarmed sprites (there are separate ones for each weapon) but I tell you it'd be difficult to make a GIF of him running in one direction. One thing that really confuses me is that there are these separate images again, of his idle animation, but as far as I can see some of these
are also in the sheet. I'm not 100% sure though as there could be subtle differences.
So I'm a bit confused at what to do with this. I'd like to just submit the sheets as-is, but they're difficult for animators to animate. I could probably organise them into usable sheets, but that would be really tiresome and I'd put it off for quite a while since I don't really have the time to focus on finding out the order of animations and organising. And either way, I have to find out what to do with those separate images.
If you have any suggestions on what to do, that might help. In any case I'll keep looking through the files and see if I can find some sort of trend or pattern that will help me make sense of these sheets. It's not only character animations but world graphics are confusing too. The only thing I can rip with confidence right now is GUI stuff and such, since those don't have animations and their sheets aren't really confusing.
