I don't see it, i'm looking at the game it doesn't use Hedgehog Engine and Hedgehog Engine for Sonic Unleashed was great Sonic Generations not so much and no Sega doesn't use that engine for all Sonic game's if that was true then Sonic Colors look great. and S4EpI was pretty good not my favorite game.
you know what's funny the fact this game was released on steam by accident (the beta version) awhile back XD looks like a great game though.
I will never understand why the first one got all the shit it did. It's fun. The physics didn't bother me.
The only thing that bothered me was some of the puzzles that were utterly retarded.
Looking forward to playing this with a friend on Steam.
I meant for PS360. All sonic games for next gen consoles use the hedgehog engine. The floaty effect is only present in the classic style gameplay.
Floaty effect does not equal Hedgehog Engine, because Hedgehog Engine is a graphics engine, not a physics engine.
That's not entirely true. The Hedgehog Engine, even though it was mainly made for realistic graphics (known as the "light field"), has a physics component that works together with the Havok physics engine. Look, what I'm trying to say is that the way that they program the physics component doesn't really go perfect for the classic style gameplay. That doesn't mean that there are boldly noticable flaws in the physics (the "floaty" effect is only noticable in some situations).
And also...
WTF?!
Episode 3 is in the making? Man that's cool!

I dunno either...
Was it the terribly off physics that wouldn't make sense in any game and were just outright annoying, the horrible and obvious DIMPS level design, the plastic and cheesy looking pre-rendered textures, the terrible shading style, the obvious rehashing of nearly every idea from the first games, the horrible meow mix music that stereotypically tries to mimmick the old FM synthesis Sonic sound and obviously failed, the unnecessary Episode separation when we have superior technology these days, the lack of more than one playable character, the shortness of the game compared to say: Sonic 3, etc.
Gee, I wonder why.
EDIT: Oh, did I mention how it hardly feels like a sequel in any way because of the constant re-used content and downgrades from the previous games?
I like basically everything you just trashed.
I love the soundtrack from it, reminds me of the Genesis days (mainly because I think it's using OPM for some of the instruments, or at least something that sounds similar.) Other reason being the songs have references to older Sonic songs, I've compiled my findings into a video for anyone who's interested in hearing what I mean (obvious music spoilers):
One thing I didn't put in the video that someone mentioned afterwards is
Sylvania Castle Act 2 also has some Flying Battery in it.
Anyway, I pre-ordered it since it looks really fun.
Didn't watch much of the video because I do care about song spoilers ahahaha, but at least seem they finally got that Genesis drum right, the one on Sonic 4 is horrible (along with the whole soundtrack). However, the songs still feel kinda uninspired, I hope this is because I haven't heard them in-game/completely yet (only heard the sylvania castle part)...

I'll tell you this, almost every song in the game is inspired from some other Sonic game, giving them a familiar feeling, almost like you've heard it before. It's really great. You definitely do need to hear it in action though.
But isn't Jun Senoue doing the music for this game? His past work is much, much more better than some of the tracks in this game.
Jun Senoue might be remixing the tracks, as he's the one who made most of the classic tunes during the times of the classics after Sonic3.
Has anyone noticed that Sylvania Castle has elements from Aquatic Ruin from Sonic2 and Marble Garden from Sonic3?

At first you had good points, but then it turned into nothing but horrible nitpicking.
Quote:the lack of more than one playable character
You old-time Sonic fans and your complaining about too many characters in Sonic games, and rejoicing about the idea of a Sonic game only having Sonic and Robotnik.
Then you complain about Sonic being the only playable character? Just what.
I like how you wrongly discriminate 'old time fans'. Who said we hated any of the old characters. For all I care the new character could be a playable Amy. Whats most important is adding a completely new feel of gameplay with each one via level design with a unique ability.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles hit the nail on the cranium.
