Gee whiz here's Zero Kirby coming to tell us that progress has slowed to a crawl
yet again because he can't find sprites
"Zero Kirby why you even using M&L3 sprites if you can't find any"
Good question, hypothetical man! So take a gander with your peepers in this direction.
Super Mario Classic is leaving the Mario and Luigi style behind almost entirely. I'm still using the colours for a lot of things like that Mario there but otherwise it's out. It
is a shame, but otherwise I'll never finish this project.
Besides, that Mario has some Classic history in him. He's an edit of Dex's sprites that I used in Mushroom Archipelago! Only made kinda better. Been having a lot of help from Mit with that. And that's Drag's tileset right there, too.
So yeah. Hold tight while the game slips into an entirely different art style. Sticker Stage's progress will probably move along quicker.
EDIT: Oh yeah I suppose I should mention - the above is simply a mockup, though the game will eventually wind up looking more-or-less like that.
I like the lighting used in this!
So first, another mockup of something I wouldn't have been able to do with the old Mario and Luigi style.
Second, an in-engine screenshot for once.
Thirdly, some sprites. Again, Mit's been a huuuuuuuuge help with these. I'm terrible at shape. Not so bad at shading them though: I like how Metal Mario turned out in particular.
I feel that Mario's complexion is a little dark. While he is Italian, the character is actually pretty pale.

Fair enough. It's the one colour I carried over from the "original edit of Dex's sprites" (put in quotations because I think it's a silly phrase but the only one I could come up with). The rest are from BIS, mostly, but Mario's skin colour from BIS made him look like he came from the Simpsons.
I kinda like the colour myself but if enough people really hate it I can change it.
Whoa hey it's ME
Man has it been a while have I made any progress on this at all
WELL
Downpour Ruins concepting indeed yes.
But it wouldn't be Downpour Ruins without rain, would it.
And I finally finished getting Metal Mario shaded. Good god.
As well as Boost Mario! And also fixing up the rain effect a bit so it looks nicer.

Everything looks great, though I'd avoid using such a high-color gradient. They sorta break me out of the pixel-art style I assume you're going for...
I'm nitpicking. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I'm losing the gradients in favor of the SMW backgrounds, which I think fit much better.
Thanks though!
haha, this game looks hilarious and really good for a fan game. Will you be releasing it on other platoforms? (mac?!?!)
Sorry if you've gone through this on here already. I was just too excited to read through the whole thread.
It looks great! But I think you could have made the water in the map screen progress a little more detailed, but everything else looks good. Keep up the good work!

I don't have Game Maker Studio, so it's not coming to any other platforms.

A lot of stuff is still a work in progress, so yeah.
Oh yeah, I also recorded my voice saying a thing.
This is a great game! I'm loving it so far, the systems are cool and it plays smoothly. Ah, Mario brings back memories.
Her that voice recording... Really sounds like Charles!
Fire Mario and Ice Mario are the finished!
Fireballs can bounce off of walls in this game, but you only get five bounces before the fireball disappears.
You can hold up to shoot iceballs higher...
Nothing to shoot them slightly lower but farther...
And while crouching to make them travel low and far.
You can shoot up to three fireballs, and four iceballs.
Also working on Warp Pipes. I don't think I'll have a demo in time for NCFC though. We'll just see.
