Sonic's exploration controls we're always god awful. They really needed a button to hold so you'd "walk" instead of doing that weird glide walk Sonic seems to do when walking slow. Exploration in Sonic should be kept to multiple paths (aka Generations) not free-roaming, it just sucks.
I feel like I'm in the wrong place mind when people start talking about how good a Silver game would be. Sonic '06 needs to buried so nothing remains. Maybe the characters could laugh about how crap it was in the future (if Sonic games ever get good enough to mock there older games again). There's so little (minus the "cool factor" the Adventure games had) that was right with recent Sonic games in the past... well, decade. Generations got it right - copy Generations, it was prefect in every way (minus the god awful final boss) - we just needed more of it.

As long as it isn't on rails that's fine, but I don't really see BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST working in any other way than a straight line.
Yeah. the booooost kinda kills it. It's kinda like the rolling ball in S4:EP2
Thanks guys, you gave me reason to start brainstorming!
I think what made the boost feature wrong was the fact that the levels were mostly straight. So you didn't have the option to go and turn at will while boosting.
you're going so fast that you can't exactly turn anyway
if the stage is flying by in a blur, it's not like you can see where to turn
And even when not running, sonic turns very stiff. The stages go past you way too fast. Hard to see things coming if you don't know it. That's why I die alot on my first playthrough, because I don't fucking see where I'm going. I actually had to hunt for the red rings by going slower and not boosting.
I had no problem turning in Sonic Unleashed (in some stages). Sonic generations make sonic go WAY to fast.
Did anyone like the gameplay style of the GBA series?
I don't like the GBA or the DS series. They aren't as fun for me.
Oh, Sonic 06 may just be underrated.
What did you like from Sonic '06?
I liked the intention of it, the way it wanted you to give the adventure feeling from the Dreamcast games. It didn't but, it wasn't that bad.

Listening to things like this is bad. As soon as the Advance and Rush games (which are universally praised) are swept under the rug and '06 is rated to be seen as "underrated" we have a serious issue. Sonic 06 and Shadow the Hedgehog are piles of crap - that's something that's pretty much universally agreed (along with werehogs being bad). Unless your 10 and can't tell what a good game is but just care how "cool" something looks there is no reason to take any inspiration from these games. I use the word "cool" in the sense that kids think Transformers 2 is "cool".
If you said something like Sonic and the Magic Rings (or whatever it was called) was underrated, then yeah - maybe?
But looking at universally panned games for ideas is a bad idea.
If you want to get the "cool" factor of Sonic then look at the music and styling/presentation of the Adventure games. As although not brilliant games (GameCube owners will no doubt rape me until I scream Adventure 2 is good) they had a great atmosphere and made you feel cool without doing some crap like turning you into a Werehog or having you grab some Uzis.
Sonic '06 is just being raped. Only the worst parts of it are being mentioned, while there are also things that were good, like the music.
And still, you can't say it's fact.
One will say it's horrible, the other will love it to death. Fans don't all have the same opinions, it's all about preference and reputations.
