bnewton, you're completely irrelevant to this project both as a tsr user, as a character designer and as a spriter in general. you earned that by your actions in the past and certainly reinforcing them now. there is absolutely no reason why you or your character should be in this other than being a punching bag(and we already have one).
get out. grow some chest hair, and come back when you're not a cry baby.
pfffftahahahah, oh man bnewton hasn't changed one bit, besides insulting himself from a couple of years ago like he's suddenly turned a new leaf.
Now he looks even more ignorant because he's being totally hypocritical.

basically, instead of everything horizontal, you could pose things in a way that a normal person would pose while keeping the idea of a floaty object thing, making animating it easier since it has a more humanoid shape which can be referenced
or im missing the point entirely
This design looks much more interesting by the way.
he was bashed long enough. please lets continue with the purpose of this thread.
I couldn't sleep and I decided to type this out on my 3ds.
I'm sorry, really, I just took one look at Baegal's post, and thought "Wow, am I not allowed to design my own character?"
That was wrong of me. Anyway, it appears I should have typed this sooner, because now I'm getting laughed at for my momentary stupidity. I'll try to redesign my character when it's not midnight, input some ideas from baegal.
(Grow some chest hair.)
Pfffffft, I HAVE A BLOODY MUSTACHE AHAHAHA.
I feel stupid posting this. Internet never ceases trolling me.
My next post will contain the revised design.
I'm working on making the head look nice, before working on the rest of the body. I am aware the rightmost eyeglass doesn't have an outline. I'll work on it. C+C.

No actually I did agree with Metaru, I think your kick looks fine and didn't feel like it needed to be any stronger like everyone else was saying.
(Once again my spontaneous thanking habits have probably confused people...)
@Mighty: Oh. Either way, I think I'm gonna make that kick 2, because Gors suggested kick 2 can be a little stronger, and I like the size of the foot as is.
@Animator Rex: The design is already more interesting, but what do you have planned for the body? I suggest simplifying the yellow parts (which look to me like cave helmet lights (?)), and thickening the band that they are on. The size you have now is pretty good, but the stoic face makes the character a little boring. Try some dynamic; either opening the mouth, exaggerating the character's emotion, making it less symmetrical, etc.
Which design is the best one? The fourth one was added as an afterthought.
none of them fits TFR at all.
and no, it's not because the style doesn't match, or because your character design is boring (actually they're all wrong, but that's not the main problem)
the problem is what metaru told you. You have absolutely no relevance in tSR at all. You don't have anything that could make you an important member (rather, all you built up here was a completely negative image of yourself, being arrogant and stupid not listening to criticism).
The very first step to be in TFR is to be a member of tSR. All characters in this project are from well-known, respected members who did a lot to help the community grow. Now, a whiny crybaby that can't even sprite that well will not have any chance in joining this.
What can you do to be a member of this project, then? First of all, improve yourself. You said that you 'became better', can take criticisms and shit. Well, guess what, you aren't. Please be serious about yourself. Second, work on your pixelart techniques, by doing several art. This way you'll improve both C+C-taking and spriting skills. Finally, be a more helpful member overall.
I might've sounded harsh in this post but that's how things work. I will not add someone who is unknown to most of tSR.

Thanks for the compliment. Those were actually goggles, hehe. A little reference from where my username came from. Also, I have no friggin idea what to do with his body.

Really, I wouldn't say he's all
that "unknown"
he just has a really really negative image to the community
4
design 4 is perfect
let's have design 4 as the game's mascot
point still stands. I wouldn't want a terrible member in this game. He should improve himself first before even thinking about joining this project (and it isn't even hard. just be humble and accept the criticism, jeez)
Welp, I thought it was high time I got some actual spriting experience; this guy needed a revamp and needs animations anyhow. At the very least, I hope I can make an assist out of this guy.
Bottom-middle's what I'm working on. I can't quite work out how to make the difference in the yellows and the pink background a bit more readable; any c+c would be much appreciated. Spikes and wings'll come in time; or perhaps not, I may make them only appear when necessary during attacks and the like.
Also, I have no idea why the file's extension is going berserk; I uploaded this as a .PNG twice and it insists on calling it a JPG and downloading it as a BMP. I chalk it up to Photobucket being Photobucket, but more so than usual.
Make a slight cast shadow from the shell onto his head. Although the light is from top right, there should still be some shadow. Also, try upping the contrast on the shell highlight. Since your character is a little larger (which might work fine for assist; I don't know about a character), you have more leeway with shadows and whatnot.
Also, try
