I liked the first one Baegal posted.
Maybe his cape can move when he's running. It just looks a little odd to me how it's floating up when he's still.
Yeah, I'll be sure to give his cape some movement whenever it comes time to animating. I'm still unsure as how to make his idle. It's all in the drawing board stage right now lol
Thank you guys for the crits and for the edits! I'm gonna choose Baegal's. Its very simplified.
I'll fix the mugshot soon enough as well.
While I started on Gaia's new sheet, there's still some errors, however, I think this is also the better incarnation of the previous set of sprites that came before this as well.
Should I continue with this and plot some moves, or should I continue experimenting with it more? The one thing I have issues with aside from various design tweaks is Gaia's official size. Often times he'd be often described as somewhat around 5'2", which would be a problem.
that looks too short for a fighter sprite, as if it's the crouching animation's inbetween frame. About character sizes, don't care about being perfectly accurate, but matching to the rest of the characters. Kinda like Olimar in SSBB: if he was to be represented accurately, no one would even see him fighting against the others.
Welp, finally been two months.
Probably ought to make it even simpler or something. Anyone wanna give me C+C?
Oh, so you're not going with the legs with the hat and monocle? Okay..

Actually, I was thinking that I would have my character be an assist. He'd come in and roll the dice, then do random effects based on the roll. Like a 1 would create an explosion that damaged whoever summoned me, 2 does nothing, so on and so forth.
Assuming that base concept isn't too complicated for an assist, my avatar could be in one of those effects.
If it is though, I could probably try to make a full character or something so that the dice rolling is more spread out. Or I could take the avatar and make that the character instead, I dunno.
REST ASSURED, THERE WILL BE A CLASSY BUM SOMEWHERE IN THIS GAME.
The head's a bit too small for this style. Considering what you have there, he should be relatively Sol's proportions, which you've done, except for the head. If you want him to be shorter than Sol, take a few pixels off of the torso and legs rather than making the head smaller.
He also appears to be leaning forward, slightly.
Also, how are you going to approach the dice idea? I like the concept, but how will you show the number? I'm picturing him throwing the dice onto the ground, and having a giant "2" or 3" pop on top, or are you planning to not show the number? What if the dice grow bigger when you throw them, to where the number rolled is visible?
I'm curious to see how this plays out. I like the concept!
Better? Worse? Mindbendingly awful? I'm not sure if the size increase makes his face look fat or not.
Anyway, I was going to have him throw the dice up with his hand, then DRAMATICALLY SNATCH THEM OUT OF THE AIR with his other to make it look all flashy. The dot formation for the number would then appear behind him, kinda like how kanji appears after Akuma does a Raging Demon.
Much better!
The only thing I'd say now is to maybe loosen up with the AA on the jacket (you might not even need the second tone, or at least tone it down a bit), because it's starting to look like banding. This style doesn't really call for "blending" colors, if that makes sense.
Tried simplifying the shading as much as possible on the jacket.
This enough to start working on the animation bits, or is there still more that needs to be refined?
i'm pretty much giving this a month before oficially calling this another entry into TSR's collection of community generated vaporware.
I've been really patient for this time now, but this is getting really ridiculous. Actually I don't care if this is really going to be programmed and made a real game, but if you volunteered to program it, you at least should be more responsible.
If anyone that is more reliable is interested in coding this project, please send me a PM, then we'll get things sorted out.
