I'm doing a favela in Brazil Smile. after I update with more details
the perspective is a little awkward

Keep in mind that this is only the first of the two-hit combo, so adding a second attack afterwards would help with fluidity.
KARATE CHOP---I mean punch. Punches don't usually go straight down, but if that's what you were going for (the karate chop thing) then go ahead.

try adding a frame, or adding motion blur
@Virt: Yeah, I intended for it to be a chop because it fit easier, and it works in the sense that my character isn't exactly serious or sensible
@Alex: I initially had a motion blur before, but it was much harder to see that it was a boxing glove because it was there for such a short time, and adding another frame would make the action take too long. It's only the simple punch to start a combo

I think the boxing glove should be saved for an actual punch

It should look more like an exaggerated chop with that motion, so maybe a chopping looking hand?

I'll mess around with something else when I can get the chance, I'm quitting for today.

also don't forget RANGE. Make the caracter stick its arms farther, or else it'll never hit the enemy.
actually for fighters this small, shouldn't the hitboxes be even bigger?
or will there actually be pixel-perfect footsies?
