The only problem I have with Bowser is the the shading on his chest/just under his head, it looks like he has pecks or man-boobs,

I had thought about this myself, but i didn't think it feasible until recently. The idea of breaking symmetry would be great!, but that would mean that DK's front sprite would always have a fist up while driving (unless we kept reorganizing sprites)... which wouldn't be all that bad considering DK Jr. had both.
Star, as soon as I get the internet up I'll start inserting some of the sprites in so we can examine what's actually happening in game. Doing that just once let us figure out that a lot of sprite sheets are using duplicates. Did you update the Chain Chomp yet?
and jhkdjfl;akjdf;l roflgummad the Luigi Victory sprite is totally Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga inspired. hahaha awesome

As for Bowser, thank you so much for fixing the animation. I changed the shading on the belly back to what it use to be because, like MutantYoshi said, it looked like he had man boobs lolol.

No, I haven't updated Chain Chomp yet. I'll be doing him later on. Right now I'm just giving more love to the racers.
And well..the Mario and Luigi series is one of my favorite Mario RPGS..
And one of my favorite spriting styles

Updated Luigi on the front page~

What are they doing?
That looks wrong(Not in a spriting sense)

either that or they're dancing

It's the turn/drift animation.(Right now, it's just a happy dance lol)
I just wanted to see how smooth it transitions back and forth.

this doesn't look good unless you redraw the karts as they turn.
07-26-2012, 02:54 PM
I honestly thought about doing the same thing..but I am not sure if I am able to change the kart that way.
I think it HAS to use the same back view-kart sprite as whenever they're not turning. If I could change it I would.
Also, even if I can't change it, it should still look fine in motion.

It looks fine.
The head turning sprite is only seen when you're turning very gently, at low speed, or in place. I'd HATE to see a tap of the directional pad shift the whole kart in place. You should make a separate/optional turning sprite where the wheels alone angle in the corresponding direction though; like all vehicles do when you steer the wheel, even in place. It'd be interesting to see.
EDIT: Though it may not work because the front wheels (the ones that actually steer a vehicle) are hardly visible in the sprites. Ignore that :V

Thank you, Iceman.
Although..Luigi is not impressed with it.

Mario and Luigi were the best improvements. I love how you can see their whole back now, along with the fact that their caps aren't just circles anymore. Everything's looking amazing so far, and it's great to see you back on the racers as well. The only criticism I have is that Bowser's bigger arms in the back sprite make his legs look tiny, and Peach's victory pose arms are oddly shaped and not very visible from a far. Remember, she throws the campaign bottle in the air, there should be more emphasis on her arms (even outline may help).
Also, I have a question. What was the reason for stretching Bowser's mouth more?

I agree on Mario and Luigi being the best improvements. Thier back sprites were seriously bothering me everytime I looked at them. I'm so much happier with how they came out now.
Thank you for the comment, sir!
Now then, time to answer some stuff:
I'll be sure to fix Bowser's legs cause I thought the same thing. Just thought I could get away with it XD
The reason I stretched Bowser's mouth more was to make the animation better. Turns out though..I won't be needing to do that, since I have to get rid of Bowser's other head and remake it.
I hope Segway explains why I have to. I'm too tired to at the moment. <__>
For Peach's arms..I added an outline to it before and I hated how it turned out. I'll try working on those arms again.

I'd keep the closed mouth version on another part of the sheet labelled "unused". I love it too much too see it completely wiped out.
