It's rather odd that you go with "parade" dragons and not just the Chinese dragons the parade dragons are based-off. Water Serpents and Chinese Dragons (but in water) look close enough anyways.

because gyarados is made up of a bunch of different parts all those ball shapes

makes him look like a parade dragon
Another reference related to Gyarados is some legend about a carp that tricks a gate-keeping dragon and when he swims through the gate he becomes a dragon himself. That's why I kind of get a Chinese dragon vibe from Gyarados.

This^^^^^

This is the concept behind Magikarp. That's why he transforms into a Gyarados after being thrown in a waterfall on Pokemon Snap too.
Since Golurk isn't really a robot I just remembered Klink.

Plus of course Klang and Klinklang.

Torchic, Genesect, Abomasnow

Genesect is beetle like in general but he always gave me a roach feel. Abomasnow is based off of the abominable snowman which, if I'm not mistaken is essentially bigfoot.

Hmm I forgot about torchic and abomasnow. I guess corphish and crawdaunt are shrimp like pokemon. And maybe doduo is a play on the word dodo, but I think its more ostrich based.
Okay, if Golurk isn't a robot (though I say he is, I'm still gonna name one "RX-78-2"), then at least Metagross is. Genesect has cybernetic augmentations, too. And arguably Registeel is as well. One could make an argument for Bisharp but they're more like armored soldiers, especially with their line being named after chess pieces in English and Kamatama (Pawniard's Japanese name) possibly being related to Koma from Shogi. Eh.
Metagross is as much of a robot as Steelix is. Which is not really.

Genesect and Registeel are though. Totally. Although, technically, no pokemon are truly robots, since they're supposed to be natural/biological creatures, right?
Genesect is actually a cyborg :p

Aren't they like weird data animals being that they can be stored in a computer etc?
Thats the portigon evolution line.

I think you're getting mixed up with Digimon. Pokemon can just magically be stored in tiny spheres that fit in your pocket. Hence them being "pocket monsters" and not "digital monsters".

Or are you talking about Genesect and Registeel specifically? Because in that case I have no idea. If you're right, then Pokemon really has gone too far.

Back in the red/blue days (long before the internet was popular) the Pokemon cries, being stored in the computer etc. always gave me the impression that they were some weird computer data compatible like monster things. I think that makes sense.
I thought they were aliens >.>;
I thought they were animals

with magical powers

oh wait that's what they are
Registeel is definitely the most robot-related Pokémon I think there is because its movements and actions are more... I don't know how to put it other than "emotionless" than Metagross or Kling. They have expressive eyes while Registeel doesn't. As for Golurk I dunno because I've never seen it in action.
