yeah you sure can but psyduck it still a platypus
cyndaquil looks more like an echidna than a mouse
pikachu looks more like a lagomorph
(07-29-2012, 05:27 PM)Kriven Wrote: [ -> ]Why does Farfetch'd being a duck make Psyduck and Golduck any less duck? There are multiple turtles and tortoises so I don't understand your position.
Especially considering the names are pretty explicit here: Psyduck and Golduck.
It could also refer to a platypus, since the kind of platypus Psyduck and Golduck are said to be inspired from are
Duck-billed Platypus
how can you even say psyduck is not a platypus, i thought that was common knowledge amongst pokemon fans
(07-29-2012, 05:47 PM)Kriven Wrote: [ -> ]Uh, no. Both of those are observations by fans about the possible inspirations and motives of a man they've never talked to.
Nice try considering an editable wiki as gospel, though.
Well granted that this thread going into a huge argument about it you might as well say it's a damn fact. It's both a duck and a platypus because that's how people usually perceive them as.
That's really the only reason why I posted it here. Why it's continuing is beyond me. Hate to come off backseat modding and all but this is just stupid to the point where it's getting derailed into another subject entirely.
Is there any hamster pokemon?
I also think we should move on from the Platypus thing (even if I did start it...) Seems like this is actually a topic which has been had many times before else where. For example...
Found that charming image on the net. Yes I am well aware I just said "Lets stop talking about Platypuses" and then did it anyway...

There's so many rodent Pokemon there's no doubt something close enough to a hamster. Oh and Minezumi (which is apparently a Pokemon now days) is a hamster.
They should start doing bug Pokemon based on microscopic creatures.
Like waterbears.
A new pokemon with a large browstache.

Ooh ooh, Sandshrew isn't a mouse either!
It seems more armadillo-based.
EDIT: Oh nevermind, didn't read far enough. I'm not continuing the arguing, just pointing something out.
I would like to see a Legendary Bigfoot Pokemon.
You'd be surprised, many Pokemon are inspired by multiple animals in one. I bet back in the first gen they only had so many Pokemon they could fit so they must've smooshed some animals together to make room.
coding wise, there could have been more than 151, the cart was too small to accommodate any more graphically however
the gameboy, just like most processors, used 8-bit addressing so it was possible for 256 pokemon in the first generation, the remaining 105 (probably more like 104 since i assume the ghost missingno was one of the things pointed to) slots were empty and therefore loaded garbage from the rom to use for graphics, moves, etc.

Patrat's pretty spot on.
Does anybody know of an ant Pokemon though? I mean I wouldn't be surprised but I can't think of one (although I'm pretty shabby with Generations 3 and 5, and completely missed 4).
