Yes, I read that (and even posted there), I was just saying that's probably what we needed rather than TUGS from now on.
What I'm wondering though is if it would have skill level tiers or if it would be everyone vs. everyone.

That's pretty much what's done on MFGG for their sprite comps(with a few minor differences). Everyone sprites and theres a group vote for top 5 and then final voting.
I'm thinking I would rather have everyone place like a normal contest to keep it simple. Skill level tiers just add to the separation between people actually progressing.
Not only that, but NOT having skill separations is a great way of showing the people that THINK they're better than they are that they aren't and showing some people areas they haven't considered when they think of proving.
We might as well do it.
We wait and test the waters until more than two people give feedback.
Well come on already, lets have someone set something up.
Who cares if only a few people want to join in, more will filter
in sooner or later.

I do think that something not as tightly scheduled and more interesting/exciting would get things more active here.
I seem to remember setting a schedule and allowing larger deadlines several times for the last TUGS. It didn't make things better, it made TUGS drag on. Unfortunately, you can't please everybody when it comes to dates.
Well I don't think it's your fault the way it turned out, I think we needed something like this anyway. Having small challenges once a week will get more activity here I'm thinking.
Regardless of whether it was my fault or not, I'm just saying that looser schedules don't necessarily equate to a more successful challenge.
I agree that smaller weekly challenges that puts aside tiers is a better idea.
Sorry to necro but I'm really missing TUGS. It was a great excitement.
a necro is still a necro
